So I was planning on seeing wicked tonight but wound up at The Little Mermaid instead with pretty damn awesome seats. gotta love it.
Can I just say - I love building sets, and watching them work as I've done it for high school/college level productions for the past three years. This set blew me away, I was completely astonished it was possibly the most beautiful set I've seen in a while. Even the transitions between land and sea were just so beautifully done, I was just in awe. This show makes me upset that I am not going into theater when Im older.
Sierra has a beautiful voice that made me tear up at a few points, and she's just cute as a button when she gets her legs.
Palmer was out, I saw Bret. it utterly upset me that a Blonde was playing Eric in the beginning but by end of Act I I was completely over it because he was doing very well for himself. He was very polite at the stage door as well.
Ms. Scott, one word: amazing.
Tituss?! FAN FREAKING TASTIC. He was possibly my favorite thing about the show. He did such a great job in every way.
Brian [Flounder] Such an adorable child, my roommate and I wanted to take him home with us so he could dance around our dorm room in his costume.
Random Notes: I felt that "I want the Good times back" sung by ursula was quite similar to Applegat'es number in Damn Yankees " good old days"? I think it's called that.
favorite numbers had to be Under the Sea, Positoovity, and I want the good times back.
Few things that bugged me; Lack of dog Max, and Ursula's alter ego Vanessa. I felt both of them in the film aided in moving along Ariel and Eric's relationship - with out them I felt it was kind of awkward how they filled those gaps.
Did you notice Jonathan Freeman's Grimsby? FYI (assuming you don't know already), he voiced 'Jafar' in the ALADDIN movies! And, and, and, I think the man's a diamond in the rough!
Glad you like the show! I loved it. The score is actually really good, and If Only [Quartet] is amazing. I am sorry you didn't see Sean. I agree on Brian, my friends and I wanted to kidnap him and bring him to Jersey and be our adopted little brother.
My only issue with the show: HOW THE HELL DID URSULA SURVIVE ONLAND DURING "THE CONTEST"?
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
The weird thing about Bret was he like, wore a wig. but it was a blonde wig, it was quite traumatic for me because I loved the character Eric as a child, and dark hair is a part of the character. But Bret completely made up for it- he was just fine.
My roommate is obsessed with If Only, she won't stop talking about it.
Grimsby was fantastic! Ahhh I didn't know that he was Jafar though - that's kind of insane.
I forgot to mention my complete fondness for Scuttlle, whose name I forgot because I've been sleeping for like 10 hours but he was so great, so funny, I was nervous most about Scuttle being on stage and he was just fabulous
btw, the kids skates they use to glide- very cool, and very creative. Outside this play I hate them but right before I thought " christ, how are they going to move smoothly with fins coming out there behinds" and then the first person glided and I couldn't believe how creative the production team was.

I think the sets are horrible...I dont understand how they can use those tall turning arm things in every scene and think they are going to convince me that I havent seen them before.....The sets dont work, just like the costumes dont work, and 1 or 2 or the actors!
It is always interesting listening to somebody talk about the sets that has actual experience behind set building. Thank you. I can just imaginae how you'd end up seeing an entire different level and structure in the sets since you got behind-the-scenes experience in them and it is fascinating to me to hear that.
Besides Tituss's costumes I have heard nothing but good things about his performance.Does anyone think he will have a shot at a nom at the Tony's this year for Featured actor?

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."
