Well Maybe Rue will be available for The Golden Girls Musical now.
Rue McClanahan won't partner with Mark Hamill when Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks waltzes onto Broadway, the producers announced June 27.
The actress best known for "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" has left the planned production by mutual consent with the producers of the comedy by Richard Alfieri.
A Broadway date and a new leading lady will be announced. Hamill remains with the show. Arthur Allan Seidelman continues as director of the new comedy about a widow who finds common ground with a gay dance teacher. The producers were looking at a September opening, but that has been rescheduled.
I would have liked to have seen the previous West Coast version with Uta Hagen and David Hyde Pierce.
Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys.
"I guarantee that we'll have tough
times. I guarantee that at some point
one or both of us will want to get out.
But I also guarantee that if I don't
ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for
the rest of my life..."
Maybe she can play Brick's mother in "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" when it comes to Broadway. We already know she can do the Southern accent. Wow, now I feel like watching that movie. LOL Paul Newman was hot when he was younger!
