1. She's not ashamed of being a curvy woman, and yes that was before Adele, and has not buckled under the pressure to look a certain way, and acknowledges that girls shouldn't be ashamed of the way they look. 2. She's stayed out of trouble and can set a good example for young people. 3. In all honesty she's successful, and people look up to people at the 'top'.
I'm not saying it's great stuff like curing world hunger but it's something.

She is skinny now, but how does that detract from a message she held and promoted for years? She is a role model, even though the older croud might not understand.
Anyone know when she should return, I want to see her, but if she has really been out since Sunday, then that's a little.. Obnoxious. Sorry- actors are people, but most people cant get out of work for that many days.
I just don't know if I want to risk buying full price tickets for another let down.

For what it's worth, she's (rather annoyingly) billed above the title (a privilege not afforded to either the two-time Tony nominee she co-stars with, her Tony nominated predecessor, or the Tony winning original Mother Superior), so if she is out, you could get a refund or exchange.
And why would you be paying full price for Sister Act?
I've been aware of Raven for a very long time. She comes off bitchy and full of herself. Not saying she is either of these things. But like Judge Judy says; if it acts like a duck and quacks as a duck.. Then it must be a duck. That's why you are all ready to shoot her down.
AEA contracts give you sick days built-in to your contract, kind of like if you had any other job with paid sick days when you take a job on salary. Producers know mere humans get sick, and they *give* them sick days to take if they need them. Not sure what all the drama is about. Should you be disallowed sick days at your job, too? (And it likely doesn't involve as much vocal, breathing, or other demanding physical strain as a Broadway performer, either.)
"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had the practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." --Alice in Wonderland
Yeah those 3 times she played the role must have really taken a toll on her voice. We all know performers who sing ten songs EIGHT whole times a week are a special breed of human being because not everyone can do something as challenging as that. I bet people working in the mines or who rummage through sewers all day are happy they don't have a job as tough as that!!
THIS many days, this early in her limited run is simply not a good sign of things to come. MIGHT it be her only time out of the show? Sure, but it's not likely -- and only time will tell.
And I would be looked at askance if I had to call out this early on in a new job. Part of having accepted this job is being able to HANDLE this job.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
This isn't "any old job," regardless of union sick days. She's not paid "any old salary" and she called out the first week on the job. She's also not just an employee, she's the star of the show. The headliner.
If it were an easy job with easy stakes, then anybody could do it. And we'd all be getting paid her "rate."
On the flipside, she's not a stage actress, and this should be a reminder to producers who take chances on film or TV talent with no (or next to no) live theatre experience. You don't know what you're getting, even if they exhibit professionalism and a great attitude. They haven't been put to the test singing and dancing eight shows a week. Not even in regional theatre or summer stock. Some people just can't "sustain." They haven't built up their stamina.
Time will tell if this is an isolated incident, but this is a really bad start out of the gate. And first impressions always count.
