Bwahahahaha. (Sorry, that's the cynical parent in me.)
But seriously, what a lovely idea. I'm assuming your friend is expecting their first??
Sunrise, Sunset??
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
They have two children and one of the Fathers is very sentimental about parenthood. I'm doing a mixed CD for everyone this year for their respective holidays and this theme seems to fit him best.

I absolutely second huskcharmer's "Fatherhood Blues" suggestion. Even though you already have a Baby song on there, I think two can make the final cut.
"Growing Pains" and/or "Don't Be Afraid of Anything" from Tree Grows in Brooklyn. "Stop, Time" from Big. "I Don't Need Anything But You" from Annie "When The Children Are Asleep" from Carousel "Love Is a Very Light Thing" from Fanny "Getting Tall" and/or "Nine" from Nine "We Got Us" and/or "Taking Care of You" from Golden Rainbow
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
There are a couple in the new "101 Dalmations musical": "A perfect family" (where Pongo and his wife sing about having kids [puppies]), "World's greatest Dad" (Pongo plans to be the perfect father) and "My sweet child" (Pongo's wife Missus sings of her love for her kids [the song is directed at one of the little girl puppies]).
They are cute songs and very parent-centric. I don't think this show has a cast album out though.
"I Won't Mind" by Jeff Blumenkrantz, while not so much about parenthood, but about longingo for parenthood, is very moving.
"Solioquy" from Carousel is a MUST.
As is: "Our Children" "Breeze off the River" "The Beauty Underneath" (Love Never Dies...this is a maybe) "When the Children Are Asleep" "Light", "I Am the One (Reprise)", and "Maybe" all from Next to Normal
I think "Till There Was You" would be very appropriate too. "If He Walked into My Life" from Mame.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
It's a little sad cause it's about how fast your kid grows up, but I think it's a delightful song, and there's nothing negative about it.
