A 30-year-old-looking guy with a Bride-of-Frankenstein streak of white in his hair, with predictably pale skin and dark eye make-up. I'm sorry, I'm just SO not optimistic about this.
"Zac is sweet as can be. He's very much just a sweet kid from California who happens to have a face that looks like it was drawn by Michelangelo, (if Michelangelo did anime)." -Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!" -E!'s "The Soup"
What do you want? the second lyric in the show says "His skin was pale and his eye was odd"
He makes death look hot.
and remember, there is a 20th century auto in the backround, so this is Sweeney without lighting, music, or editing. I think he looks great, given that it is not in the context of a filmed shot.
"I'm an American, Damnit!!! And if it's three things I don't believe in, it's quitting and math."
My point about the make-up was that -- on him -- it happens to remind me of Edward Scissorhands too. *shrugs* I'm just biased against him in the role, as I'm not a huge fan of his anyway.
Predictable FOR Johnny Depp. Isn't his "skin pale and eye odd" in pretty much any movie he makes with Burton? Had they cast someone who I believe to be more age-and-type appropriate for the role, they could have afforded to take some more inspired creative liberties. As it is, it still just looks like Depp in a Burton film to me.
"As I feared, he looks way too young for the role."
First of all, how old is Sweeney? I'm not trying to pick a fight here but the story takes place around 1830, and the average life span, especially in urbanized areas, couldn't have been much higher than around 45, between pestilence, poor sanitary conditions, pollution from factories, arsenic in dyes, etc. Sweeney's been locked up for 16 years, I'm sure he looks more like a holocaust survivor than a hulk. So given Johanna's age of 16, Todd's probably somewhere between 36 and 40. He can't be in the greatest health. Judge Turpin, comingfrom a wealthier class of men, most likely has a longer lfe since he lives comfortably, eats well - perhaps too richly - and isn't from the lower middle-class situation as Sweeney.
I get not thinking he's the right type, but I don't understand the argument that IF you cast someone the right age/type, you'll go a completely different way with the look.
What kind of look would you have liked?
"I'm so looking forward to a time when all the Reagan Democrats are dead."
Oh for the love of Mary and Jospeh - that is a picture of him walking out of a trailer. You can tell NOTHING about how he's going to look on film from that shot.
And since when is Depp not age appropriate for Todd?
Sweeney Todd and Lovett were younger than they have been portrayed onstage in "Sweeney Todd."
However, I am THRILLED that Virginia Graham is back from the dead.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
