So I guess that means that The Color Purple will not be doing a long term engagement in Chicago after all.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 2:45pmWell, that's over 19 months away...perhaps they don't think The Color Purple will last that long. Also, keep in mind, Phantom can be moved to The Auditorium Theatre, where it originally launched its national tour. The article does imply that it is a separate production, but it must be the tour.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 4:05pmIt's so odd that there is a 1 year gap on his schedule. I'm surprised they announced it this soon. Phantom isn't anywhere near the hot ticket it used to be, and the last time it was here they only announced it a few months ahead of time.

Fosse76, I think you are misreading the date. Phantom starts this fall, in 7 months.
The Chicago Tribune states, "If The Color Purple (slated there through Oct.21) extends its run, a different haunt would be found for the phantom."
