I always find that when someone is recommending a show or suggesting that you should not see a show, you should look at what they are recommending as alternatives and what are the shows they have recommended in the past. It's pretty clear to me, and anyone who has been on this board for some time, that most of the recommendations of "Pacific Overtures" have come from people with a good track records for recommending quality shows and from people with some knowledge of what constitutes good theatre. Am I a theatre snob for saying this? Probably, but then again I really don't give a **** if someone thinks that because it's my opinion and as much as they are entitled to theirs, I'm entitled to mine.

As a new member to the boards I am constantly amazed at the people who think they are the only ones who know "good theater". How do you get a track record for "recommending quality shows"?Who decides that the shows you choose represent quality. You are entitled to your "theater snob" opinion, but I am unclear what makes people an "expert". I have seen 9 broadway production this season, and am hardly a neophyte. That's what I get for not liking Pacific Overtures. Guess I just don't know "quality theater". I will just have to settle for giving the opinion of the "average guy".
Oh my, we've touched a nerve have we? I love how defensive some people get, especially those who were not being referred to in the post that they defend.
