I dunno, wasn't the longish, feathery hair somewhat "in" then? I'm thinking like, James Spader in sex, lies and videotape, and actually that style shows up in a lot of other late '80s/early '90s movies. Am I just misguided?

I have to say I loved the movie hair. Just for the record
And even though he had a stylist, he is supposed to have unkempt hair in a way! It fits his character!

Hair appreciation!
During shooting, Rosario's hair was much longer than it is now, but I'm not sure if what you see in the movie is *all* her hair.

actually... in those pictures...
thats both his real hair.
he now has the short hair.
they filmed all the parts of the movie where he had long hair, which is real. then he cut his hair so he'd look different for the flashbacks with short hair, which is also real, and his hair is still short.

He did not cut his hair until filming was completely finished; the photoshoot for the MUTE posters was done in New York, and the flashback scenes were one of the earliest things shot once they moved from NYC to San Francisco, and the *last* thing shot was the What You Own sequence in New Mexico. He couldn't have cut his hair to do the flashback scenes. It's a wig.

Yeah, nobody looks good like that. And despite the puffy eyes he still has that great flashy smile!
I like the way he looks in the beginning of the film (such as in your user photo) :)

Okay, I'll teach you!
You can post a picture from your fan photos. Save it to your computer as a JPEG image, and make sure the file name has no spaces. Upload it to your fan photos, and when it appears after the upload, right click, choose properties, and copy the URL. Then just paste that in the "optional image" box.
