I just got a flyer in the mail for LA wicked, and though they did not announce Eden as Elphaba...all the pictures were of her and Megan Hilty...

I would love Melissa, Jenna Leigh Green, or Celia Keenan-Bolger. Any one of them would be fabulous.

Funny that Allison Fischer was mentioned. She said at the closing of "Lestat" that she really wanted to be involved with "Les Mis," but that by the time they were let out of their contracts, the show was already fully cast. Perhaps now she can be involved?

I join the crowd rooting for Celia Keenan-Bolger.

Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

If you did that, Quiquo, you wouldn't be able to see whoever replaces Lea. Or anyone in the revival cast. Or any future casts in Les Miz! Or the concert video! Or boots!

....but you'd still be able to listen to your CDs of the full symphonic recording....

What WOULD be the right age for Eponine?
At least...?

Having seen Les Miz about 40 times (I've long since lost count), I'm not compelled to rush to the revival. However, I would definitely go if Celia was playing Eponine, a role for which she is ideal. Heretofore, my favorite Eponine was Dana Lynn Caruso ... but that was 'way back in 1989-90, on the road.

I heard Dana was wonderful as Eponine. I'm really surprised she was never brought to the Broadway company of Les Miz during it's original run. Her most recent show was the Broadway company of Fiddler on the Roof.

I also thought Dana Lynn Caruso was the best Eponine I've seen. She was supposedly very difficult to work with (she was young) and management had a lot of problems with her attitude which is why she never came into NYC.

They clearly want somebody really young for Eponine in the revival. The people they were looking at were all in their teens or very early 20s. A lot of people who were interested in auditioning for the role, including some of the names mentioned in this thread, were told they were too old.

Lizzie, I totally agree with you. I think I saw her at least 6 times and couldn't take her seriously in her role...She is such a nice person but I just never liked her at Eponine. I would like to see her in something else though just on the NYC Les Mis thing.

Good pointe, Colle. I had not thought much about the age issue for some reason re: New Eponine Casting

I believe Frances Ruffelle (the originator and definitive Eponine) was born in 1965, so would have been around 20 when the show opened in London, and then 21-22 when she was on Broadway with the show.
