Thanks for the advice everyone. Especially ShuQ's. I know I had trouble with tension, but I never thought of massaging to get rid of it. It seems so obvious. I ordered the music off of Amazon, so hopefully it'll work out okay. I'll continue to record, as well. Still trying to fix the little belty parts. And I'll try to find some backing track, as well, if not try to make it.
I think I will stick to the sandwich when making my comment. -I like the energy you maintain throughout the song. -To work on: Well, ShuQ beat me to this: but my very first thought was that I hear a lot of tension esp. the higher you go. I also think that when you feel it is a "big belting moment" you force your muscles to push the sound out which leads to a really tight, straining sound. I suggest that you practice the song in front of the mirror and make sure you are not using anything besides your breath to hold placement ie: not sticking out your jaw, or straining your neck whatever weird bad habits that people usually have. Work on vocal quality and ease first, and then go for power. --Lastly, again, I think you're great for taking notes so well.

Aigoo! I just auditioned for a show at ECC... The All Night Strut, I got cast! But I got accepted into a voice intensive at Northwestern University and will be gone most of the summer. So I decided to train instead of Perform... Just thought it was funny that you're doing a show there... They usually put on pretty good shows and the directors are nice. GOOD LUCK!
Well. You have a LOT of work to do. It sounds like sometimes when you breath you breath in, then breath half your air out before sliding into the note. You need much stronger support in your diaphram. It's also very obvious you are trying to sound like the person on the recordings of the songs you're singing. You have to stop that and get comfortable with your own sound. Broadway singers are confident and sure of themselves, and you don't present that sound in your voice. The pitches have to land right on, one off-pitch will throw your audition. And don't plan on getting the lead. You'll set yourself up for disappointment, start small, support YOUR OWN SOUND, and really control that breath.
You are young, life has been kind to you. You will learn.
