I wouldn't say my enjoyment was ruined but it was definitely affected by the fans of...
Mamma Mia!
Hairspray (the third time I saw it)
Wicked (actually only one of the seven times I saw it)
Legally Blonde
In some ways, [tos]
Jersey Boys a little bit
Passing Strange

Passing Strange (though I wouldn't have enjoyed it even if the fans hated it too). So glad it's closing.

Personally, I would not be detered by any fans! IF I REALLY like the show...I would like it, no matter what! If I dont like it, no friend can persuade me neither! Its a matter of taste.. fans or fan's enthusiasm IS not a factor for me. I enjoyed seeing a show! THE EXPERIENCE of it all, being inside a BROADWAY THEATER~ and no one can take that away from me. I LOVE BROADWAY and its in my DNA!

Not ruined, but definitely distracting were the [tos] fans...squealing in anticipation of lines and every one of the phone calls. AS annoying as someone with a candy wrapper or the need to chat.

When I saw Rent during the recent Adam/Anthony return.

My parents were with me and didn't understand what the hell was going on. ("Who are these people again?")

Can I just go ahead and say "Rent Closing Night" and then come back here late on 9/7 and confirm it?

it's not just their energy at [tos]....but it's the inside [tos] jokes, that people have to PROVE they are on the IN...

example: EDIT! susan just says "die vampire, die" HUGE applause an audience member thinks...."wait, what did she say? what did i miss?" then while you are trying to figure that out, you miss the next thing. vicious cycle.

Candy should be banned from the theater.

When I went to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror at Bucks County last year and we sat in front of two people who apparently knew the cast and couldn't contain themselves - squealing and commenting through the entire thing. I'm all for the audience participation, but but participate in the SHOW, not who you know and how crazy they are DURING the show.

RENT. And I didn't even see it on Broadway; I saw a tour.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

I agree with J-- ain't nothing gonna ruin my enjoyment of a Broadway show!! Things will work my nerves, but never ruin my entire experience.

I would agree with Jay as well. It takes a lot to distract me from enjoying a show. Even texting or eating though I do find both annoying and rude to be not worth yelling at someone over. This is because the time I used to yell at them was time I could have been watching the show.

I don't understand why the crowds at Rent annoy people so much. It's supposed to be a cross between a musical and a rock concert, as far as the atmosphere goes.

At any rate, I agree with jaystarr. I don't let other people affect my view of a show. Ever.

Wicked - teen age girls should only be allowed for special performances.
