I have 2 tickets to see Wicked, which I purchased from Ticketmaster. Even though I viewed the seating chart, I have no idea wheather or not it is partial viewing or if I will need binocluars. My seats are in orchestra- row K, seats 14 and 16...any thoughts from those who know the Gershwin theatre space well? Any assistance with this would be most appreciated! Thanks so much!!!

you are 14 rows back, 6 seats off aisle, you're good to go - and unless you have bad eyesight, you won't need those binoculars but bring them just in case:)

I hate to do it....but i am going to tack something on to this thread.

I need some help. I am looking at tickets and essentially there are upfront partial view, far back orch, and rear mezz. Now, I think I recall someone saying if you are on a side, its best to be on the right.. is that correct? My group (either 3 or 4) is going to have to split up anyways to get tickets but I was thinking that we might all just split up to get the best possible ones. If the comp gives me partial view front, should i call to get them to look in the rear mezz?

Thanks!

you should definitely call when tickets slim - the comp does not pick randomly, so you'll get the same ones over and over again - and yes, go for the right side for Wicked - its all about the backstage set that you dont want to miss, so if you get partial, get as far back partial as you can.

But is rear mezz better than partial view?

I myself like to be as close as possible so partial is better for me , I like to see every expression and you definitely don't get that up in the mezz - if you get partial, go for the right side

This is good news, as I believe I am on the right side of the theatre...whew!

Totally agree, Shiz...

Partial view on right side is way to go. We had F 24-26 last night, and they were perfect !!!

Those seats are on the right. I sat in seat 15, row K. Those seats were great. I had no trouble seeing facial expressions. My only complaint was that the left side of the stage is blocked by the sets here and there.

well, you are in Row H which is 12 rows back, so the closer in you get if you are in partial, you lose more of the backround and lighting - and not to give any spoilers away - the left side obstructs a bit more than the right in terms of the backround - The Backround sets and especially the lighting... the lighting is INCREDIBLY beautiful and not to be missed - so try to get farther back in the partial views

The closer the better, IMO. But if you've never seen the show before, you might want to stay away from partial view. You'll miss some stuff.

You will miss only a few moments, though they are important. In the end it won't make too much of a different, and again, closer is better, and it's great to see the performers' facial expressions. :) Have fun!

I have a chance to get tickets that are on the roof, it says on them "folding chairs" and that you have to wear an aluminum foil hat for the duration of the show. I know seeing anything is probably out of the question, but does anybody know how good the sound is up there? Other than Idina's belt? And what is the deal with the aluminum foil hats? Who hear has done the roof seats?

Dont worry, I am kicking myself for asking another one...

If the seats ARE NOT partial view, does it still matter what side you are on? Of the orch seats I am looking at, they are still off to the side, but dont count as partial view. Is it still better to get the right side... or better to just be as close as possible?

If you don't wear the aluminum foil hat when you have the roof seats does it interfere with the infrared hearing devices they rent at the theater?

If its a toss up of a row or 2, I would pick the right side

I would definatly make sure to wear the hat. And buy the good aluminum foil, not that cheap generic stuff.

Do you recommend a specific brand? And thank you for taking my concerns seriously, unlike Jizzam up there having to go and get all sarcastical. These things are important.

Like Millie42 before me, I just gotta tack onto this thread ...

If we're sitting in the center section of ORCH E (9th row), are we below stage level? Asked another way, can we see the floor of the stage?

I can get $55 tickets for Row CC 6, 8, 10 too close?

or Row F 24, 26 + Row E 26 too far off?

or $50 tickets for Rear Mezz Row J 115, 116, 117 too far away?

what should I do?
