Rent, TTB, BARE, Hedwig, Once on this Island and I admit it, I teared up the first time I saw Wicked and Phantom of the Opera! :)

I cried through most of URINETOWN and for several hours afterwards. Everything about the show was so amazing... Every performer was so committed and passionate; every technical aspect of the show, perfection. The love for musical theater pumping through the writers' veins was so palpable, and the show's relationship with it's audience was hysterical and upfront. Every audience member seemed enthralled, and I just felt surrounded by theater in its most beautiful form. The cast's unity was as incredible as its' talent. And the fact that a show like this had made it to Broadway was inspiring beyond belief. Urinetown is an inspiration to myself and to every theater- goer who wants to believe that original musicals are still out there, and have the ability to reach and change large audiences.
Although other shows have more sentimental, technically touching storylines, I don't know if anything will ever touch me like Urinetown did!!!

[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

Wicked touched me and even though I have yet to see it RENT did. After reading it's libretto and listened to the soundtrack countless times I understand it almost as well as if I have seen it. It was a great moral *if you wanna call it that* and the I'll Cove You reprise always makes me weepy. And in case anyone is...interested, Larson died 9 years ago as of tomorrow *Jan.25*
RIP

A most ingenious paradox.

Pretty much every musical ever written. I'm a sap, and, as Tiff called me, a "Weenie."

BARE-That musical is amazing and should have had it's run off-broadway. This is probably the only musical that actually had me in tears. Aida and Wicked also touched me, but no where close to Bare.

First and foremost is Les Miserables. It was my first touching musical (I had never seen a sad musical before), and it was beautiful, and I loved it.

Second is Rent. I loved it when I only had the CD, but it touched me 10 times more than I thought it would live.

And then there's the list of other ones that I loved but that come second for me:

-West Side Story (on stage)
-Into the Woods
-Okay, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I was touched when I saw Beauty and the Beast *blushes*
-Miss Saigon (I haven't seen it, but the music is very touching)
-Avenue Q- also haven't seen it, but love the recording, and I find There's a Fine, Fine Line to be touching

I have never seen Wicked. I will see it in May. (Okay, isn't there a line at the end where they're all like, "We can never go to back to Oz, can we?"? That'll probably make me cry.) :P

"I mean, how many of us could honestly say that at one time or another he hasn't set fire to some great public building?"

Yes, there is a line that says "We can never go back to Oz, can we?" ( I cried then)

Anyway, the musicals that touched me were;

Wicked- I love love love love (and cry) at For Good and the finale.
Rent- Angels death, I'll Cover You Reprise, and Without You and a really good and strong message (no day but today)
Hairspray- such a good message again
Caroline or Change
Sound Of Music- I love the strong sense of family

And then, do you know Monseiur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you.

I really haven't seen that many musicals yet, but here goes:

1. Wicked - "For Good", and when Elphaba asks "We can never come back to Oz can we?
2. Avenue Q
3. Children of Eden - When Eve tries to get God to answer her

GYPSY

INTO THE WOODS

SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE

VIOLET... I don't think I'll ever forget one second of that night. To this day it's the clearest memory I have of any theater performance.

Kiss of the Spider Woman
Rent
Parade
Assassins

There have been others over which I've obsessed, and others that made me cry, but these were the four that moved me so I could barely walk after seeing them. Completely emotionally draining. Love 'em!

Oh I agree about Urinetown - an amazing show, and quite disturbing.

Other than Urinetown,

Fiddler On the Roof
Gypsy
Little Shop of Horrors - I left with very mixed emotions and the character of Seymour really struck a chord with me.
