Not sure if there is already a thread similar to this but I thought I would like to discuss it.

The moment that always gave me the goosebumps was Elphaba's last few notes in "Defying Gravity." I mean, she's belting and flying at the same time, those notes always give me chills literally and figuratively.

There are alot of moments that give me goosebumbs in different musicals, but one in particular would have to be in The Last Five Years when Jamie is singing "Nobody Needs to Know." Also another song that gives me goosebumbs is when John Lloyd Young is singing "My Eyes Adored You" on Jersey Boys!! I just love that cd!!

Definitely from "So if you care to find me..." in "Defying Gravity.

The Finale of Les Miserables always does it for me, once the stage is full and they're slowly marching forward. But also the end of "One More Day" at the close of Act I, with similar staging... and "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables".

The Act I Finale of All Shook Up, when the entire cast literally fills the theatre with their voices as they sing, "Take my hand..."

There's probably more, but I'm sure I'll remember them later...

"It's not for sissies, contrary to popular belief." - Tommy Tune, on musical theatre.

Yul Brynner and Constance Towers -- the "Shall We Dance?" scene.

Hugh Jackman singing "Once Before I Go"

Michael Ball's "Old Maid!" (part of the seduction scene). Those two words are so laced with venom it just gives me chills re: Moment in a Musical That Truly Gives You Goosebumps

i have loads.

#1 - very cliche, but the beginning of the overture in "Phantom" when the chandelier starts to rise and the curtains fall off the proscenium

#2 - not a musical, but the scene between Laura and Jim in "Glass Menagerie" always makes me cry

#3 - classic moment, "When You Walk" from "Carousel" or when Julie explains to Louise about someone hitting you so hard it doesnt hurt after Billy brings her the star

#4 - the very end of the recent revival of "Cabaret" - totally unexpected, but totally shocking in a good way

#5 - the drumroll into the striptease of "Gypsy" when Louise says "I'm a pretty girl momma"

#6 - the silent terror of the final scene in "Marie Christine"

#7 - the whole of "Passion"

Don't f*ck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo.

"One Day More" definately. I've recently become obsessed with that song. Aaannd of course "Defying Gravity." Umm....there's a brillion more. I'm trying to think. There was one moment that gave me goosebums during "Spamalot" in the song Find your grail, just because I saw the stage and realized how much I wanted to be on that stage right then, not sitting in the audience. The end of Titanic is good too, though I don't remember much since I saw that 8 years ago. Oh and of course Rent. All of Rent.

Any time Audra McDonald opens her mouth in any show, Donna Murphy's rendition of "I Read"...yeah pretty much all of her Fosca....and all of Passion..., "Wheels of a Dream" and "New Music" from Ragtime, "Make Our Garden Grow" from Candide (and I don't even love the song), the end of act II of Sweeney, the end of Les Mis, "The Last Midnight" from Into the Woods.

- All of Sweeney Todd.
- The finales of Acts I and II of Sunday in the Park With George when George sings those "Bum bum bum, bum bum bum bum"s ... it's silly, I know.
- "Moments in the Woods" from Into the Woods.
- The end of The Last Five Years.
- "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" and the finale from Cabaret. So creepy. Man.

Stop looking at my charisma.

Rent - First time I saw rent - Jesse Martin singing I'll Cover you reprise

The first three that came to mind, I am sure there are more

i gotta say, as dumb as it sounds, when i saw elphaba come flying up that trap door screaming fiyero

also the first chords of seasons of love

the reprised ending of the impoosible dream (the stokes version, whenhe goes back to "this is my quest..." and hits those amazing notes at the end)

Many opening numbers do it for me. Also "For Now" in Avenue Q also, and ALWAYS overtures.

I think my top goosebump moment is One day more from Les Miserables. I've never seen Lea Salonga live, but when I watch the 10th anniversary DVD, her voice sends shivers down my spine. Just incredible!

The next goosebump moment is in Miss Saigon. The whole musical is full of goosebumpy moments, but the most amazing bits are "the movie in my mind", "Bui doi", "I'll give my life for you" and "This is the hour". Such an amazing musical!

I've never seen Ragtime, but I have the CD, and there are tons of goosebump moments. Your daddy's son, Wheels of a Dream, and Till we reach that day. Wow, what an amazing musical!

I love defying gravity too. Very goosebumpy!

There are just so many goosebump moments in musicals, I'd be writing for ever and ever! amazing!

Defying Gravity in Wicked
The first appearance of the Phantom in "Phantom" and the final scene
Can't Help Falling in Love at the end of Act 1 of All Shook Up (so wonderfully and powerfully sung, made my hair stand up on end).
The finale scene in Rent (not only did it make me cry, but the showing of Mark's film and then the final appearance of Angel with the rest of the cast was just cool)

1. end of "Dirty Rotten Number" in DRS. (specially when it was John Lithgow's last performance and the song was just perfect for his exit.)

2. the line in "The Schmuel Song" in Last 5 Years: "Have I mentioned today how lucky I am to be in love with you." so sweet!

3. the song "If I Didn't Believe in You" from Last 5 Years.

i think that is it.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

"if i didn't believe in you" is up there for me

"the circle of life" from lion king- just because it was my first experience of big 'spectacle' theatre

"tonight reprise" from west side story. The very last 'tonight' with all the groups singing different harmonies. As well as 'tonight' from wss.

-The end of Act 1 in Sweeney Todd
- "Will I?" and "Finale" from RENT. Pretty much every song from RENT where all the company's on stage actually. Their voices harmonizing never fails to give me chills.

From the moment Elphaba rises in DG to the end of the last note, especially right after the light cut out.

Beginning of Phantom when the chandelier rises.

The end of Aida when Aida and Ramades are being enclosed in the tomb.

The "I'll Cover You" (reprise) in Rent

"goodbye love" in RENT - stage, not movie.

"nobody needs to know" and the final song(s) from TL5Y

the wedding sequence in OOTI

soooooooo many others. :)
