I agree. I doubt she has the staying power that Bernadette has either. I don't think she'll be around much longer.

I do, however, give her points for trying. A lot of people like her would have given up a long time ago because of the "chubbiness." Marissa didn't, and that takes guts.

*applause for Crazy* You ever notice how most threads on here, no matter how innocent, usually wind up being an assessment of talent? Just making an observation..

Face it folks- the woman has no talent. It's that simple. The movie was awful not just because of the book but because of her performance. Can't sing, can't act, can't anything.... T-A-L-E-N-T-L-E-S-S

Obviously there are many different opinions. Saying "she has talent!" "T-A-L-E-N-T-L-E-S-S!" "she has talent!" "T-A-L-E-N-T-L-E-S-S!" is not going to do anything.

well.....lucky us! we have a true talent scout in our little club.

thank you soooo much bestofbroadway for your expert opinion that she can't sing, dance or act.

apparently fellow casting professionals have a different opinion.

maybe you need to look for a new line of work.

or better yet...just get a life.

I think Marissa was perfect for the role. The role doesn't require a great singer or dancer (Tracy's choreography is not too difficult). The same can be said of Harvey in the role of Edna. He has practically no voice left, but no one seems to be complaining. What is important in all the roles in Hairspray is believability and the actor's 100% committment to the part. The camp-comedy shows are extremely difficult to pull off if the comedy isn't played with complete truth and honesty. I think Marissa does this well. The Tracy on tour was ok, but her performance was more forced than natural (even more so was Bruce Valanche).

Mister Matt I agree. I particularly was NOT a fan of marissa when i heard the cd. so all these peeps saying they do not like her voice, i guess I can validate BUT I then watched a video....I think she was perfect for it. PERFECT! She WAS Tracy. Now i listen to that cd and really can't picture anyone else singing it...better voice or not does not matter, she was great as her.

I also agree about harvey, I mean come on. BUT people are allowed to have their opinion. I had that opinion at one point of her but i think she gets more of a bum wrap then she deserves. I think it is because of all the hoopla that surrounded her, but that technically is not her fault.
