Today is Sunday, November 15th, marking the official opening night performance of Misery on Broadway. Laurie Metcalf and Bruce Willis star in this thriller. Post reviews here.
Curious to hear the reviews on this. I saw it earlier this week and thought that the performances were overall strong (especially Metcalf) but there was something with the production that didn't completely spark and reach the heights of the movie. It was overall a pretty good show though.
As good as Metcalf will be, I am assuming people are seeing it due to him. Will he live up to his rep of being difficult to deal with at the stage door or will he be accommodating? Time will tell.
I saw this once early in previews and then again earlier this past week. Both times I was vastly underwhelmed. For a show being billed as a "Suspense Thriller", there sure is a lack of suspense.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
It is getting ripped a new one. I pity Rumor- Willis will take his wrath out on her for getting good reviews in Chicago- and he getting all around pans in this. Will he dare pull a Jeremy Piven? Does Bruce eat suchi too?

@evic I remember that food poisoning incident too . I am not sure why they choose Bruce why did they not choose an oscar winner.
Looks like we will have 2 highly anticipated star driven vehicles that will turn into disappointments. At least this one has Metcalf. Without her, it looks like a total loss - except for the set

'Twarnt food poisoning (that usually only lasts a day or two) it was Mercury poisoning from long w term ingestion of sushi w ensuing neurological symptoms that prevented him from honoring his contractual commitment. Even got his MD to sign off on it . Still makes me smile.
FYI-
Nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of methylmercury. For most people, the risk from exposure to methylmercury by eating fish and shellfish is not a health concern. Yet some fish and shellfish contain higher levels of mercury that may harm an unborn baby or young child's developing nervous system. The risks from methlymercury in fish and shellfish depend on the amount of fish and shellfish eaten and the levels of methylmercury in the fish. Federal, state and local governments issue fish advisories when the fish are unsafe to eat.
Brantley gave Misery a rave - - The Book! Which he read for the first time in preparation for the play. I sure can agree with that. The play...not so much.
Just read that originally Julia Roberts was up for the part awhile back in the stage version. This was allegedly nixed by King who thought she was wrong for the part. This would have been interesting.
Having a hard time figuring out if I want to see the movie or/and the stage production and in what particular order. Those reviews have made me pretty excited for Metcalfs performance, have not had the opportunity to see her live yet.
If everyone says the movie is better, seems like paying a lot of money to see the inferior version second is strange, no? I'd say go stage then movie, if you made it this long without seeing the flick.
