Very thoughtful, detailed review, Mike. Thanks for that. It's a relief to see someone actually give this show a break and just enjoy it. I look forward to seeing it again. Glad you had a fun time.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I enjoyed this show a lot. The actors were fabulous, the storyline was amusing, the jokes were a little low but comical (very Mel) and the set was one of the most incredible things I have EVER seen.

Well Mike, now having seen the show for myself, I can say your review is right on!! We thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed for most of it. The costumes, lighting, sets, acting and dancing were terrific. Christopher Fitzgerald totally stole the show and I was fascinated by his wonderful performance. The theatre is definitely too big and I think this show would have totally blown people away the first night if it were in a smaller venue. But, having said that, the sets were magnificent and the story telling moved quickly and smoothly. For a show that was a shade under 2 hrs and 45 minutes, it seemed like it only lasted about 90 minutes, that's how wonderful it was.
For Producers diehards like me, I was not expecting this show to be anywhere close to the Producers, but I believe it was. I still believe the score and book for The Producers was much better, but the great array of actors, lighting and sets for YF far surpassed The Producers. All in all, a great afternoon of entertainment.
The only review of a show that matters is your own.
I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. I think its an awesome, thoroughly entertaining show. It features a fantastic cast, sets, lighting, costumes etc. It's not masterpiece theatre in the sense that it's not incredibly profound, but it certainly gets a 10 for being just plain entertaining. I love it and have seen it 3 times already.
