They re-made Cinderella too, but it was wayyyy different from the original. Wasn't the original in Black and White?
I don't think Brandy and Whoopie Goldberg were good casting choices, but the rest of the cast was great.

originally, Cinderella was done in Black and white on live TV starring Julie Andrews -- fresh off of My Fair Lady on Broadway. Then it was remade starring Leslie Anne Warren -- in color. The Leslie Anne Warren version has been rebroadcast several time ssince and is available on video, though I haven't seen it it lately.
Recently, the remanke that starred Brandy has become the known version of the show -- an interestnote :: when the remake was foirst developed, they approached Whitney Houston to play Cinderella. She felt she was too old for the role (duh), so she asked to play the Godmother and recommended Brandy for the title role.

Hey...we're in luck! In the new MTI Catalogue they say that a Willy Wonka Musical is in the works for them to publish soon. The song-writing duo of Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley are keeping all of the old songs and adding some new ones too. I can't wait.

I was recalling that Matthew Broderick's name was mentioned to play Willy Wonka, but then I believe that was talk about making it into a Broadway musical, not the proposed movie remake.

In all seriousness, is NBC really planning a remake of RHS?

Yuck! I hated Matthew Broderick in the remake of The Music Man. He totally killed the part.

Anthony Newley will NOT be writing new songs for the Wonka re-make since he is, unfortunately, deceased.

PEACE.

Matthew was the wrong person for Music Man. I could see the possibility of casting him in the musical that has been talked about and in which his name has been mentioned to play Willy Wonka.

I don't understand this topic. Tim Burton is not doing a remake of that awful film musical adaptation, but going back to the source, Charlie and the Chococlate Factory, and hopefully doing it right.

Also, Matthew Broderick can't do musicals unless he is playing a geek. After the Music Man he should be banned from any musical movies.
