but there is a vulnerablility that we're supposed to see in her in "A Quiet Girl" and the reprise of "Ohio." Personally, I didn't see it. Also, I did not care for the way that she contorted her face at times. I would love to see her in a role that she is more suited to play!!! And, just out of curiosity, did you ever see Donna as Ruth?

Yes, I most definitely saw Donna as Ruth. I am one of the lucky ones.

As for Linda, I absolutely saw the vulnerability there. Did you actually watch her during the end "A Quiet Girl"? I really felt for her character. She cares for this guy, and she wants to tell him she can be that kind of girl too even though she seems to be on the outside the kind of woman who is able to take care of herself. I can definitely relate to that situation.

Anyway, I am not saying I didn't like Donna Murphy's performance. I liked it; I just happen to like Linda Mugleston's slightly more. re: Is Wonderful Town a good show too see?

While I disagree about the performers, I'm glad that you enjoyed the show! There are still those that found the show boring. That's what I really don't understand.

Is Wonderful Town a good show? YES!

It is pure genius. A wickedly witty yet sentimental book by Jerome Chodorov and Joseph Fields is a treasure, especially when combined with the soaring, beautiful, funny, and ingenius score by Betty Comden and Adoplh Green.

This production is wonderful (pun intended re: Is Wonderful Town a good show too see?) Donna Murphy was the square root of musical comedy star: the belt of Ethel Merman, the grace of Katherine Hepburn, and the comedy skills of Lucille Ball all rolled into one.

This is not referring to the person who asks this question at all, but it makes me extremely mad when we have to evaluate proven classics of the Golden Age, yet think Mamma Mia! is an actual musical. Mamma Mia!, The Boy from Oz, Good Vibrations, The Look of Love, All Shook Up, etc., etc., etc. are not musicals. They are nothing but hogepodge thrown together to make a quick profit. There is no artisitc merit in them. They are just demographic aimed pieces of dirt. Wonderful Town is a real musical, when the spectacular talents of a lyricist, composers, and a libberest fuse to create a piece of true musical theatre. Follies is a good musical. Promises, Promises is a good musical. My Fair Lady is a good musical. The Apple Tree is a good musical. They are all worth the time to study and listen to and see so that someday maybe we can hope that there is a return of real musicals instead of these catalouge pieces of gum that they throw at us.

Go see Wonderful Town. You'll hopefully see what I mean.

Sorry for the ranting. This is really the only thing that gets me going.

I work as a substitute usher and get to see a lot of Broadway shows, and Wonderful Town is one of the few shows that I want to sit inside and watch everytime I'm at the Hirschfeld. If you are a huge fan of the modern pop rock musical then "Wonderful Town" may not be your cup of joe. But if you want to see a classic example of good music theater writing and standout performances (I'm speaking of Donna not Brooke) then WT is the show to see on Broadway. "Delightful" best describes the show.
