The bottom line is at the moment Glee has jumped from around 8 million viewers to 13 million viewers (Thats not including DVR)

Its selling power overseas is huge (NBC will no doubt charge much more for the second season now its a huge hit) and advertises are throwing themselves at the show.

Lets have this discussion when the show is showing ANY signs of trouble which i dont think we will start to see till mid way through season 3.

What's preventing us from having a discussion now?

Besides you, that is.

It's a message board. That's what we do here. Discuss things.

There are huge differences between Glee and the older shows cited. Back in the "old days" you HAD to tune in at the ONE appointed time to get your fix and there was no way for people to get as saturated with media as they do today. I think people appreciated and savored entertainment more. They were excited to watch the show and focused (as opposed to half watching on hulu while im-ing and such). Multi-tasking during a show speaks to the quality of the product and the mindset of its target demographic.

Pyschologically, at this point in time, we are programmed by the media to become quickly involved, become over-stimulated, and then lose interest. It is inevitable. With all of the on demand programming, youtube, aggressive marketing its damn near impossible for people to continue to be emotionally engaged for a long haul. People are now programmed to discard a piece of technology after 1 year (as opposed to keeping an item as long as it worked like when I was a kid.)

This saddens me and I stand by my prediction that GLEE's success will be a blip. I've seen clips of that horrible GLEE tour with all the overstimulation, lipsynching and bad dancing. Its pandering on the lowest level and kids will burn out on it sooner rather than later.

I wasn't being mean, if you were referencing me, as well. There's a difference between stating an opinion that YOU don't feel like speculating about something that's so far off, and telling others that THEY shouldn't do it either.

You said: "Lets have this discussion when the show is showing ANY signs of trouble which i dont think we will start to see till mid way through season 3."

That isn't an opinion it's a directive. And nobody here likes to be ordered around.

State your opinion all you want to, and others will state theirs. That's the way it works. Simple, really.

Sanata should get her own song. Out of all the characters, I love her and Brittany the most. Also, if they want some easily gettable celebrities, they should have Melody Thornton, of the Pussycat Dolls, play her older sister. They look so similar to each other and she can SANG! Just my idea...

It pretty clear though all the gossip sites that the GLEE kids are being ridden pretty hard and are none to pleased to be a product, which supports the fact that the creators are riding this money machine hard and fast, with little to no mercy. They know this gravy train has a short shelf life.

Just read the following on Perez Hilton:

NPH Calls Glee "Factory Work"!

Perhaps there is some truth to the Glee kids feeling overworked.

Neil Patrick Harris certainly felt it!

NPH had a stellar appearance on the hit FOX show this week and when asked to reflect back on it, he didn't have the greatest things to say. Oh sure, he mentions how much he enjoyed working with Joss Whedon and how amazing the show is in general, but when it came time to talk about what filming was like, that was where the real juice came leaking out. Neil explained:

"It’s a bit of factory work. It's just a lot of 'Next take! Next take! Moving on! Moving on!'… It had been a long week."

Yikes!

Neil admitted that the "wildly grueling" set took its toll on him, to the point that he forgot almost every single one of his lines the first day!

Whoa! Things need to calm down over there on the lot! Work everyone too hard and there won't be anything left for season two!

Well, logically, the current group of "kids" will graduate high school by the end of season two, so they can bring in a whole "new class" when the original are burned out.

Paging Nia Peeples, paging Nia Peeples. Ms. Peeples please report to the Glee set to commence burial.

Now GLEE is re-releasing the entire season making fans re-purchase the first 13 episodes they already have. They know this ain't gonna last, they are riding this cash cow hard! I hate when fans get exploited.

Ryan Murphy said on Oprah that they won't be graduating.

Not to mention that Lea Michele's character is a sophomore so if they were going by year per season she would graduate at the end of season 3. I would assume all of them are around being sophomore or juniors.

That write up from Perez is totally bogus and taken out of context. The original article is here, and while Neil says that it was hard work, he doesn't come across as saying that they're slave drivers. And the forgetting his lines bit was because he had been at the Oscars the night before, performing and then at the parties out late, so he was on little sleep. Ugh, why we need to create so much drama when none exists baffles me.

"What’s the Glee experience been like?
It’s been both invigorating and just wildly grueling. We’re blessed on How I Met Your Mother to feel like we’re doing a bit of a funny playlet everyday. Here, it’s a bit of factory work. They have so many scenes to do and work all the time so there’s no real sitting back, [saying] “That was funny!” and “Nice job!” It’s just a lot of “Next take! Next take! Moving on! Moving on!” I’m working three consecutive Mondays just because that’s how it works for my schedule. The first one unfortunately landed the day after the Oscars on which I had performed and gone out afterwards and got about two hours of sleep. Then [I] arrived at about 6:30 a.m. to Paramount to do a kind of Glengarry Glen Ross/“You’ll amount to nothing!” monologue to all of the cast, who I’m fans of, who are now sitting there just staring at me as I forget every line. It had been a long week."
