Well: American Psycho, Bright Star, Shuffle Along, Waitress.....how's that for a start? The season is barely 1/2 over.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
The BWW writers are certainly obsessed. There's at least five new articles today including "Five Fun Facts" and "Take your afternoon coffee break with Broadway's next Dolly Levi!"
I personally don't think anyone should be making predictions about next season already. We don't even know how the rest of this season will be shaping up yet.
So far, we seem to be off to a pretty good start with the shows that have opened.
The Color Purple Fiddler on the Roof Hamilton King Charles III Noises Off On Your Feet! School of Rock Spring Awakening A View from the Bridge
The rest of the shows this season do have potential.
Shuffle Along...: With such an all star cast and creative team, it has so much going for it. But if Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown taught us anything, it's that just because you've got a great team doesn't automatically mean gold.
Tuck Everlasting: Yes, it has a new book writer joining the team, but it can be for the benefit. Also keep in mind that this show is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, who really has been able to turn Aladdin around from out-of-town in Toronto to Broadway and worked on Something Rotten! a lot throughout previews. So I wouldn't count it out just yet.
Waitress: Again, it has a lot going for it. It got some pretty good reviews in Boston, though some did feel it needed work. It should be interesting to see if it will live up to the anticipation.
