Haha. It totally was! I feel kind of bad for thinking that but I felt like I was going to get poked by it ten rows from the stage. I went with my best friend, who has never seen a musical before, and she ever thought she was awful. It was definitely worth the trip though. I wish I saw it on Broadway but I always assumed that it would always be there.
I really liked how the crowd was VERY into it. I was surprised since the crowd was mostly older couples. A couple behind me even got up and left at intermission.
I saw the show last night in Rochester. It was amazing! Never saw the show before, never really knew much about it, but I wanted to go and see what it all was about. Took a close friend of mine, our seats were dead center row G, absolutely perfect. I'm not a huge rap fan so some of the rapping got a bit old for me, esp. since I could barley understand a word they were saying haha but still, it was great. Lexi's understudy for Vanessa (I believe her name is Ana) was immense. I couldn't believe her voice. And Genny as Nina, one of the best performances I've seen in a while Joseph Morales looks so young, but he is very comfortable on stage and gave a very genuine take on Usnavi. You could def. see the connection he had with everyone on stage (esp. Abuela and Sonny.) Dancing was insane, lighting was some of the best. Overall, I would say 8/10. Some moments even a 9.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

I fail to see how anybody can think Lexi's understudy was anything but bad. :P Even my friend who has never been to a musical before said she was pretty awful.

I am a little stressed. I have been number one in the Detroit contest for almost two weeks now, and haven't heard anything. The show opens here tomorrow. Is there anyone I can contact to see whats going on, or should I just assume they will get to it eventually? I have never seen this and am so excited at the idea that I might win these tickets, but if this falls through I want to buy cheap seats either way so I can still see the show. Anyone that went in Rochester hear from them this late before the show opens?
This time last week i already got an email confirming my name on the list....maybe they will contact you within 24 hrs of the days they are going to give you tickets
I thought Ana as Vanessa was fantastic! She may not have been your friends cup of tea but everyone around me adored her and she received one of the largest applauses during curtain call. Perhaps it was her other understudy?

sunshels - congrats for coming in first place! Not sure if you heard about your tickets yet, but I just wanted to let you know that I posted a message on the ITH Facebook to find out about tix too since I am 4th place and this was their response -
"We're researching it... FYI for anyone else who entered... the Detroit market DID NOT participate in the Be In The Heights promotion, although we do think it's a pretty cool concept."
I have not heard back from them yet?

Well That is just weird, I wonder why they are acting like Detroit didn't participate? Do you happen to have a contact that you could PM me?

Did you ever get contact info? I called the theatre for the city I entered in, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I want to make sure my city is participating so I can buy tickets if they're not.
It's a little late in the game as the tour is heading to Charlotte in a week, but my sister just entered and would appreciate any clicks you'd care to give:
I'm trying for Durham which is at the end of the month. I'm in 6th place and very behind. I was supposed to see the show on Broadway as a Christmas present, but because of the blizzard, I was never able to reschedule my trip or see In the Heights. I'd appreciate your votes :)
Really want to take my brother to see this, he keeps telling me about it. If I finish in the top 5 we can go for sure!
You would do me and him a huge favor if you click on my link, you don't have to do anything else. Thanks everyone! Please click so I can take my brother!
