That was my first guess, it MUST be Megan because they are such good friends.. and if it was someone out of the show, i dont think she would know, just because she didnt know about Saycon very far in advance.
I saw Megan and she was amazing. If she is the replacement, it will be great with her and Shoshana!
I wish it was Jennifer Hope Wills (currently in Wonderful Town). She has a great coloratura (incredible voice). I think she looks the part. Shes perfect. God, I wish they could get her.
I hope its not Megan. I've heard some less than pleasant things about her.
i don't mean to be rude, but you really shouldn't base your opinion off of what you've heard from other people. your opinion might be swayed but you really should give the girl a chance before you say things like you hope someone isn't replacing someone from what you've heard. just my two cents...
Thats nice. But I'm mainly saying I hope Megan isn't the new Glinda... Because, I see someone incredible who can do the part. I know I shouldn't judge Megan from what I've heard, but I've heard some pretty bad things about her performance, I'm sure she will get better the more times she goes on as Standby. I just think Jennifer Hope Wills is a better choice, she has more Broadway experience, and is just amazing on stage.

just my two cents... and i don't mean to be rude, but you really shouldn't tell other people how to base their opinions. your opinion might be different but you really should give the girl a chance to have her own opinion, even if it is unjustly placed, before you go shoving your hypocritical advances down her throat.
i think megan and shoshana as the leads would be really cute. its makes me think of wicked as these little girls go on a wild adventure lol. i think it would be hard not to think of the show as serious though.
A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it,
but all she really dreams is to make someone
else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer.
And that is so beautiful-Anonymous
actually the more I think about it, I dont know if Shoshana and Megan would be right together. Shoshana would be great, but I really think you need someone a little older with more experience like JLT is.
I saw Megan and Shoshana perform together in December and was blown away by both of them. And I'm a die-hard OBC fan, too, so at first I was skeptical as to how they would do. They seem to have a real connection; their "For Good" seemed so genuine and heartfelt. Their voices blend well together and they have great chemistry. I would love to see Megan get the part. Give Megan a chance before judging without seeing her perform.
just my two cents...I don't mean to be rude, but I don't think that his comment was at all hypocritical. He was not forcing an opinion on her or telling her how to think, it was a call for her to form her own opinions. If I listened to half of what critics and peers told me about any given performance, show, song, etc, I wouldn't have found/loved half of the things I love now. I'm just surprised that his two cents was met with such hostility.
"Q. Do you know who you'll be working with after Jennifer Laura Thompson leaves Wicked? A. yes, but i'm not sure i'm at liberty to say
I wonder if it is megan because do they really have to know this far in advance?"
Over winter break someone from Meg's college found out I liked wicked and he told me that Megan would be the next Glinda according to one of his professors. Not to say the professor couldn't have been confused...
"Sherie Scott would make a great Glinda-albeit, a different kind of Glinda-if she weren't in "DRS"."
I strongly disagree. Sherie is a belter. In my opinion she doesn't have the soprano chops to get through "No One Mourns..." or "Thank Goodness." However, I think Sherie would make a great Elphaba! Her and Idina have danced around the same roles as it is, but who knows...
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH!

I bet they will give to Megan, now that I think of it. If you remember, it was going around that they offered the role to Laura Bell Bundy to replace Kristin, but the plans fell through or something, there was some conflict. Than they got JLT.
And look how they replaced Idina with her Standby. It will most likely be Megan. But I say there are better choices, if the producers just take the time to search for the right replacement. *Cough* Jennifer Hope Wills *cough*
I don't really know much about Jennifer Hope Wills...but hey, they wouldn't need to do as much editing of the posters if they stick with the "Jennifer with two more names after it " theme. Of course, I have heard great things about Megan as well

Just wondering.....do you think they would ever consider a Glinda that is African American? Edit: I forgot you have to baseit on the Wizard of oz so probably not.

On the subject of actresses who've recently played Eileen in "Wonderful Town", how about Jenny Westfeldt? I know that she's been blacklisted for skipping out on the show a full two months before her contract was up, but she was wonderful in that role and would be equally great as Glinda. At least she wasn't kicked out of the show, as Lady Donna was. Now, I'm off to "A Second Hand Memory". Look for my review around 6ish on the Second Hand Memory thread. Bye.
im a little confused, when is jlt leaving? if its as far in advance as you people are making it sound, it might just be that they *plan* to give it to someone, which could change- meaning nothing has been signed in blood?
i saw megan at the beginning of january when jlt was sick. she really wasn't bad. her comedic timing wasn't as good as jlt/cheno and her voice wasn't helium-twinged like the other glindas have been, but she wasn't HORRIBLE. i'm sure she would grow into the part beautifully if they gave it to her.

I don't think they have to follow the Wizard of Oz to a tee, otherwise Glinda would have red hair.
Glinda in Wicked is supposed to be the perfect blond-haired, blue-eyed, popular girl stereotype, so for that reason they probably wouldn't have an African American Glinda. Based on this theory, I think Glinda would be one of the only characters in Wicked that would have limitations based on race.
