I absolutely love her and find her to be the ultimate inspiration... Are any of you going to watch the documentary that TV Guide Network's airing on the 13th?

I saw the sneak peek on youtube today and can't wait!

At this point, I still think she's something of a novelty...time, future releases and their popularity (or lack of it) will prove if she's an enduring talent.

I hope she enjoys the ride and is smart with the money that's going to start rolling in soon.

I don't.

The world masses are glorifying and patronizing a simple woman who is being treated as if she were a handicap person with a good singing voice.

"... awww, look at that poor woman oh and she wants to sing -- how precious!"

Its simply pathetic and amazing how this has gone global. Its an insult to this woman how the masses are putting her on this pedestal just because she looked 'different'. I guess that old addage "you gotta have a gimmick" applies to this novelty known as Susan Boyle.

I agree, I think she has an ok voice. But she is definitely being exploited because of her "challenged" looks. It makes me sad, just like when I see any non-talented singer has a career only because she is pretty and has big boobs.

I agree, I can't stand this whole Susan Boyle phenomenon

I have nothing against the woman, but it's just she is NOT anything particularly special musically speaking, and the only reason people think she is is because she's "unfortunate looking" and happens to be able to carry a tune. If she was either average or good looking by society's standards, she would never be getting this kind of attention. She's simply not that good.

It just amazes me how many people are actually buying into this.

I mean, as long as they are, good for Susan I suppose. I wish her health and happiness, and hope that these record sales will give her a nice and comfortable life. But.. the fad can't possibly last beyond this one album. It just can't. People have got to realize at some point that she's just too mediocre

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

That will be the same day WICKED stops selling tickets.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Hey look! Homely lady can sing! What an inspiration!

How condescending.

I hate the Susan Boyle phenomenon. Hate it.

I have to admit, when I first heard about her, I was really confused as to why she was such a phenomenon. But I think maybe now I understand it: she is an average person who has made good. When she first walked out onto that stage, everyone thought it would be a debacle and she would be made a fool. But when she actually turned out to have a decent singing voice, people were shocked and fell in love with her.

I actually borrowed the CD from a friend last night, and I have to say I was very suprised to like it as much as I did. Is she an amazing singer? No. But she sings with a lot of emotion and really gets into the lyrics of a lot of the tracks on the CD in my opinion. I think a lot of people are being over the top about hating her just because it's popular to have that opinion right now. I'm not a huge fan, but I definitely had a change of thought once I listened to the music she worked on. Just my two cents.

Lizzie, what you said is pretty much exactly how I've felt since day one. Oh my god, an unattractive person has talent! What a shocker!

I don't think she's that great of a singer. And IIRC she doesn't really emote well, so it's kind of boring to watch her.

Why thank you, PRS. re: How do you feel about Susan Boyle?

I don't think she's untalented. I just hate the reaction.

I don't mind her. She doesn't have the greatest voice and I agree with what Brody said about her being put on a pedestal. But try not to get choked up while watching that Britains Got Talent clip. Its manipulative, sure, but uplifting. That said, I don't think I'd listen to her CD at my leisure...actually, I know I wouldn't.

Side note: Last night on Chelsea Lately, when asked about Susan Boyle, Chuy said "Oh, I think he's great." And I laughed harder than I probably should have. re: How do you feel about Susan Boyle?

I would think she's the epitome of the American success story - which is ironic that in England class structured society she's become the Cinderella story. I don't think its a message of talent winning recognition, as much a story of deferred dreams. So if her story resonants with you, I think the marketing of her voice and looks is what would sell. If you want another standard for peformance, than I wouldn't think you'd be much interested in her music....

I wonder how many of them are fans through guilt -- either from their first impression of her on TV, or from trying to make good on incidents in their past where they gave someone unattractive and/or awkward a bad time.

I think people are buying the "fairytale" and feel like they are contributing to a homely spinster's dream by buying the CD. I think people like the idea of Susan Boyle and what she represents as opposed to actually thinking she is any good. Her voice is pretty enough, but the song choices are all over the map with some Christmas and Religious tracks thrown in to add to the across the board appeal. The CD as a whole lacks cohesion and is pretty somber and boring. It really is a patchwork.

My mother who loved the whole Boyle phenomenon bought the CD, listened to 4 tracks, threw it in a drawer and said, "this album is boring as s@#t, can't she sing one upbeat number??" I think we will see if she has any staying power with the next release.

Also, it appears that Susan is pretty frail mentally and is not up for tours or promotional rounds, so this could take her out of the public eye.

We shall se how it goes. The CD is incredibly somber and dull if you try to listen from start to finish. Her voice is very pretty though.

I think Susan Boyle is the greatest living interpreter of song and perhaps the single most influential human in all of history.

She is god-like in her perfection.

Only Orfeh comes close to being on her level.

I love tazber! Either either Orfeh or Nikki Snelson if you ask me come close.

Perhaps she'll star in the West End version of Shrek. Too bad it's closing on Broadway.

Honestly, she's got a pretty voice, but not all that amazing. And she sings with NO emotion, which is why I really thinks she's kind of a waste of time.

I'm going to agree that she's just a pretty voice. I personally didn't think there was anything extremely special about it. She doesn't have the wow factor to me.

I'd say speak for yourself. That might be the way you see it, but I happen to think she has a beautiful and exceptional voice, her appearance notwithstanding.
