HAIRSPRAY is listed as a non-Equity one night/split week tour. As I've stated before, I have issues with a non-Equity tour being out when the show is currently running on Broadway. I also don't think it should be licensed out to Regional theatres either.
"For me, THEATRE is an anticipation, an artistic rush, an emotional banquet, a jubilant appreciation, and an exit hopeful of clearer thought and better worlds."

Yes, the tour is shutting down for eight weeks and NETworks is taking it on as a non-equity production making all new sets, wigs, and costumes. Christine Danelson (current Tracy standby), my close friend, told me this a few months ago. I only wish I would have known about the auditions for this! But yay for my friend Constantine, who was cast as Link!
"I need to know that someone out there cares...Are you there?"
"You just can't win. Ever. Look at the bright side, at least you are not stuck in First Wives Club: The Musical. That would really suck. "

Hairspray's coming to Austin in September as part of the Broadway in Austin season. If it's non-equity, does that mean it'll be a lot different/scaled down from the Broadway production?
And what was Chicago like when it was Non-equity? (besides it having non-equity actors). DId they change the set and choreography and stuff? There wasn't much set to begin with.
And when a show goes non-equity, do they change the logo and marketing?
