In your opinion, who is your favorite character to appear in a musical?

Here is my choice:

I think Angel in RENT is one of the best characters ever to appear in a musical.

Mrs. Lovett - Sweeney Todd
Billy Bigelow - Carousel
Curly - Oklahoma
Rose - Gypsy

Curly is perhaps less difficult than the others to pull off well, but I give him credit just for the songs he gets to sing.

Charity in 'Sweet Charity'....this role takes a powerhouse talent to work.

hmmmm... I know that there are more great ones than just this, but just because of my namesake...
EMCEE!!! He's really the glue that bound a lot of Cabaret together, and I felt like every time I saw the show I got something new from it, because of the Emcee. I loved the way that he was always lurking and that he represented so many different things. It's probably an amazing role to play.

Mark. (Rent) He is a quiet character, the backround guy, but he has so much depth that is easy to miss when portrayed by the wrong actor.

I don't think that Elphaba is that great in the musical, but in the book she's a really fascinating character. Please don't hit me. Updated On: 7/27/04 at 12:46 PM

yeah i agree. you don't really get to see that much of her personality in the musical. in the book she is quite interesting.
