I'm looking for the Japanese cast recording of A Chorus Line. It's available on Amazon.co.jp (search for コーラスラインre: Foreign Language Cast Recordings?, but the site is not recognizing my credit card.

Where else would I be able to get it? I've already checked eBay, and it only had the German cast recording. Thanks in advance

actor - I love my Dutch and Viennese cast recordings of "Chicago". And I only know some very basic French and German and Cantonese. It doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the show (though it helps that I know "Chicago" forwards and backwards).

It's very nice to hear different interpretations of your favorite musicals, even if you don't understand everything.

That, and it's the obsessive/compulsive person in all of us that tends to want to collect things related to the things we like (hence shows like "The Drowsy Chaperone").

Anyway, good luck finding things! I would suggest eBay, but they are pretty hit or miss with that on the english language eBay, and it looks like other countries aren't as obsessive about selling things on eBay.de and other international eBay sites. (I should know, I've been looking for the German cast of Sondheim's "Company" for like forever, ever since I didn't have enough money to buy it from Footlight, and then never seeing it again when I did have money).

ashbash - I'm not sure if there is a recording of Notre-Dame in Russian, but I'd check out castalbums.org, as they have a pretty comprehensive "wiki" type database of cast albums.

There's definitely a recording of Notre Dame de Paris in Russian. And you can search by language on castalbums.org, but it's not a complete listing...I know there's a recording of Hair in Russian, but it's not on the site.

My favorite is my Icelandic Cast Recording of RENT.

German CRs I have found are the easiest to find.

that Icelandic Rent is horrid....just horrible

Oh I totally agree, (when I said favorite it is the one I like showing off the most - mainly because the fact they made a Icelanic Cast recording of ANYTHING is quirky and cute)

Plus anybody that has read my posts about RENT on this board know I don't like the show to begin with!

The most horrible foreign cast recording has got to be the Korean EVITA. Shockingly bad.

I had the original Japanese recording of "Fiddler on the Roof".
It was hysterical. For the song "Tradition" they had to force a six syllable word in the place of the actual word tradition(which of course has only three. It made the song very funny and impossible to sing.

Nothing like Japanese phonetics to ruin the melody of a decent song.

JCS in Japanese is horrid, as they try to fit in way too many syllables where there should be one or two. The Japanese Evita fared better (perhaps a better translation?)

I haven't listened to my Japanese Lion King or Hedwig yet to see how they fare.

And I pray to they Cast Recording Gods that they record the Japanese language "Chicago" when it opens there.
