I see Marin as a great Phyllis, not a Sally.

I think Marin is a tad too imposing to play Sally. I'd die to see Catherine O'Hara play her.

I think there should be a sadness about Sally that the audience sees but she doesn't see herself. Could Alison Fraser pull off Sally?

And Carlotta should have a sex appeal or a mystique about her. These are not just a bunch of old broads, they have a history. And that's what sucked about the Roundabout production. They just threw in a bunch of old broads onstage without thinking about it. I always wanted to see Cleo Laine or Tina Turner (movie version) play the role, but both are too old now.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

If they had made that version of Follies that was discussed in the late '70s, Lena Horne would have made a smashing Carlotta.

"Most of my albums come in the digital format from iTunes because it is simply the cheapest and easiest way to get them (even if they don't have everything.)They have the concert recording, but not the Papermill. "

I was able to buy the Papermill on itunes, I wonder why it's no longer available?

I always thought that!

Has anyone one ever tried to sing "One More Kiss," out of context and in a non-operatic register? The melody and words are so haunting, I think it might be gorgeous in an older woman's voice. The implied double meaning of "one more kiss before we part" and "one more kiss before I die" could be very poignant.

Not in the show, of course. Outside of the show.

I wonder why Barbara Cook or Julie Wilson didn't include it in their Sondheim excursions. (Not sure I'd want to hear Stritch do it, however.)

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a good song, not just a good pastiche song.

Joey, the song is called "One More Kiss", and none of the lyrics you quote are from it.

It has a very wide tessitura. Even lowered a third, it might be difficult for a non-legit voice.

Cook has performed it in a medley with "Goodbye for Now," which is on her 2007 CD No One Is Alone.

Oh, ri-i-i-i-i-ight, the Follies OBC is a disaster. That explains why it was one of the most beloved of cult shows for years before another recording came along, none of which begin to hold a candle to the original, haunting, brilliantly conducted and supervised cast recording, cuts notwithstanding (not a single follow-up album captures the decadent, intentionally out-of-tune quality the original communicates). Other than Barbara Cook's contribution, there isn't a more unnecessary album than Follies In Concert, with its patchwork quilt of live and rehearsal takes, god-awful performance by Mandy Patinkin and failed attempt at creating an 'event' where none existed.
