I'm afraid to say that 9 to 5 might be on my list soon.

"Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."
Merrily We Roll Along seems to be the most obvious answer if we're just going with all out turkeys. It really is a beautiful show that if put in the right hands CAN work, and work very well.
As someone said, in most cases, there's a reason a turkey was a turkey, so not many deserve second chances.
Carrie also belongs here.
If shows that flopped ONLY financially are included then the list clearly gets MUCH longer.
The top of the list I think has to go to Caroline or Change, probably the best new musical of the last decade, maybe quarter century.
Oh please Legally Blonde was great fun...good old fashioned silly fun, very enjoyable
And the show (whilst loosing some mnoney on Broadway) ran almost 2 years, is cleaning up on Tour and is about to open in London, also the reviews were pretty good
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
I'm a Legally Blonde fan, and the reviews were not good. They were mixed to negative.

A heavily reworked version of Chess would be fantastic.
I think Taboo had alot of potential but Rosie's name at the time absolutely killed it. Also, many of the changes made were so unncessary. I could go on for days about how to fix Taboo.
I really like Legally Blonde, it isn't my favorite...but I like it. I think this tour, however, has been it's 'second chance'. It has been selling extremely well and has had some good reviews on the road. The tour extended into the 2009-2010 season and will most probably extend for the 2010-2011 season. LB will pull a DRS on us, where it flops on Broadway but recoups its lost money on the road.
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
I think Legally Blonde deserved to have a good life after the Broadway run. I actually think it is much better suited for touring.

It doesn't deserve a second chance ON BROADWAY, but "All Shook Up" is being done at community theatres, colleges and high schools all over the country.
"All Shook Up"... It was a real surprise and full of so much energy...Great cast too! Also love "Mack and Mabel", "Baby" "Seussical" "Xanadu"(not really a flop), Sweet Smell of Success" and "The Life".
The Rink was been "revised". McNally made some script changes around 10 years ago. Also, 2 songs are cut ("Angel's Rink & Social Center" and "Wallflower") and "All the Children in a Row" has completely new lyrics.
With better design, direction and a tongue placed firmly in cheek, I think it could work. Not to mention the cult following it has apparently gathered through the years.
"Jeckyll and Hyde" ran for3 1/2 years and LOST money. The original "Sweeney Todd" ran much longer than the revival but only the revival recouped (the original did so on the tour). Broadway economics have changed in the last 40 years and many long-running show lose money. Anyway...
"Caroline, or Change" was a beautiful but very complicated show that deserves rediscovery. I saw no flaws in that great show.
"A Catered Affair" is another great show that suffered from too much Harvey Fierstein. A rewrite with better production values would be great.
"Merrily We Roll Along" ....why couldn't the librettist get it right? A great score, and I saw a rewritten production that would have worked mightily if not for the clumsy, arch dialog.
The revisal of "Flower Drum Song". So much that was right but the book was overhauled to within an inch of its life. That show could work with only minor revisions to the original.
Of all the worst shows in the past few years (Good Vibrations, BKLYN, LEGALLY BLONDE etc) the one that I think might still have a life if totally reworked is GLORY DAYS. In it's current state it's nothing much but I do think there's *something* there that if completely retooled would work. There are really no musicals for just men, especially of that age so for that reason I'd love to see them go back to the drawing board with it.
