Posted: 1/11/04 at 4:49pmHi All....I need your help....I live on the West Coast and my boyfriend and I are going to New York City for only 4 days in late March....He is going to see the Allman Brothers Band...I want to see one, maybe two musicals while I am there...I have already seen the touring company of Chicago with Belle Callaway and Step Pope five times in Seattle....In your expert opinions, which two musical should I see.........This will be the first time that I will visit your fabulous city.....Thanks...

Posted: 1/11/04 at 5:16pmIt depends on the type of show you enjoy. If you haven't seen Rent, it's best in NYC. After that, I'd suggest Hairspray for fun or Wicked for spectacle.

Yes, definetely see The Boy from Oz with Hugh Jackman, it is a great show and Hugh gives the performance of a lifetime !!! But it would help if we knew a little more about your tastes. From the ones I've seen i'd definetely recommend HAIRSPRAY and RENT. Have fun in NYC, it is the best place on earth !!!

I would suggest Wicked (spectacle), Avenue Q (laughs) or Taboo (both, maybe a tear, too). Depending on your tastes, there's a little bit of everything within these three.

I wouldn't waste seeing Rent on Broadway, not only because I don't think it's a great show, but I've heard from a few people that the tourign production is better.
My picks are for Wicked and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

It really does depend on your taste. I would say "Boy From Oz" because it IS a performance of a lifetime, and if you are a Hugh Jackman fan already, it is essential that you see this.
Wicked was great on spectacle and Kristin's and Idina's performance, but the music is totally forgettable.
Taboo has strong performances, beautiful music, and quite a bit of spectacle as well. And it is not as scary as people think it is.
Wonderful Town has beautiful music from an entirely different era, and very funny performances. Donna Murphy is excellent. Not much spectacle, but I found it endearing.

If Cabaret was still on, I'd tell you to see that.... but since it's not:
Aida because it's such a beautiful story with amazing music.

Wicked, mostly for the brilliant performances by both Idina and Kristin
Thoroughly Modern Millie, because it's fun.... even though in March you will have missed Sutton Foster.
