when I saw the last performance of Les Miserables in NYC, I saw Rosie O'Donnell and had my picture taken of her. And I saw Alan Cummings. and supposedly Trump was there with his new girlfriend at the time.
<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~
It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known. ~A Tale of Two Cities ~
At DRS recently, it's producer David Brown and his wife, Helen Gurley Brown were there. Oh, and this isn't the same as famous people enjoying the show W/ me, but I saw Dick Gephardt walk out of the 700 SUNDAYS stage door, followed by John Macenroe, after seeing DRS another time.
I rarely pay much attention to other audience members, but sometimes the people I'm with will point celebs out to me.
Richard Dreyfuss was at the "Into the Woods" revival when I was there. Johnny Cochrane and Cicely Tyson (not together) were at the Off-Broadway production of "Blue" when I saw it. And Shia LeBeouf (sp?) was at "Raisin in the Sun." Hmm. Odd. Just realized all three shows have a tie to Phylicia Rashad.
And former President Bush, Barbara Bush and the Bush twins were in the audience when I saw a production of "Guys and Dolls" in Houston.
But my favorite celeb sighting was when I saw "Forum" with Whoopi Goldberg. It was during the Equity Fights AIDS period, and in addition to the plea for donations, Whoopi was also trying to sell six Hirschfeld drawings of herself to the audience at $1,500 a piece. She made the offer, and everyone was quiet until a man stood up and shouted "I'll take all six!" It was Garth Brooks. He'd been sitting right across the aisle from me the whole time, and I didn't even notice. Very generous of him, too.
i went to see "hairspray" during the republican convention...and the former president bush was in the audience with a bunch of bodyguards...when tracy-played by carly jibson- went "they want me to be in jail to make me lose the contest, thats not the american way" everyone started to clap and bush got booed during the intermission.
"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".

Tee hee. Everyone stood and applauded Bush when he walked into "Guys and Dolls." Well, everyone except me. And this was before his son had become president, and the twins were still in high school.
No... I have never sat near someone famous at a show. Isn't that interesting? Well, you asked.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
ah! i totally forgot. not really bway but @ Kristin Chenoweth's CH debut in september, Rosie, Alec Baldwin and Joel Grey (from what i remember) were all there, and Rosie introduced me to Kristin.... that was random come to think of it.
I've never enjoyed one with a star, but DefyingPopular, I was there that day as well! I won lotto and Mary's sister was right behind me. They are two extremely nice women.
Rip Taylor was at the performance of "Spamalot" I saw. (Also in attendance: Julia Murney and Randy Graff).
Also, I had the chance to tell Jane Powell how much I adored her at the "Pacific Overtures" revival late last year. She was one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met.
Saw Barbara Cook at 'Elaine Stritch at Liberty' at the Public Theatre and 'South Pacific' at Carnegie Hall. She looked happy both times. Saw Tommy Tune and Sam Waterston at the same performance of 'Piazza'. Sam aplauded wildly and showed up at the stage door. Tommy left quietly with his friends. Seen Sondheim several times at 'Pacific Overtures', 'Gypsy' and the Kennedy Center. He's hard to read. Just saw Kitty Carlisle at 'Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams'. I couldn't see her reaction in the dark (some of the language is pretty salty, especially for a 94-year old) but she stayed for the whole show, graciously talked to a few people on the way out, and waved to the crowd as she got into her town car.
'Our whole family shouts. It comes from us livin' so close to the railroad tracks'
Don't know whether he was in the audience, but Usher came out the stage door with Ben Vereen in June. Needless to say the scene quickly turned into a riot and he had to leave quickly.
well this has nothing to do with ENJOYING a show with a famous person...but i was at camp and i had to sing a song in front of Demi Moore. her daughter was at the camp and i ended up standing RIGHT in front of her and it was extremely nerveracking!! i hope that counts!

When I saw Sweet Charity earlier this year, Hank Azaria, Bruce Vilanch, and Jeff Goldblum were there. Jeff Goldblum was across the aisle and gave a very enthusiastic standing ovation at the end.
