Ugh! So, last night, as has been posted many times on this board, Sutton was out. I arrived at the theater without knowing this and just about flipped. I ended up returning my tickets and went to the Democracy theater and asked for student discount tickets. My seats were great! I was row G and in the middle of the orchestra. I was already impressed with the set as I walked into the theater. But when the play started, I was a little less impressed. It isn't that the play is bad, because many parts are very intelligent. But intelligence does not make a play. I sat in the theater trying to relate to just one of the characters, but found myself completely unattatched to any of them at the end of the play. There was absolutely no emotion brought to the characters by any of the actors, just blandness. Although I did not enjoy the production as a whole, I do respect the playwright and his intentions. But when I go to the theater, I want to be moved in one way or another. Democracy did not do this. And the whole time, I was just wishing Sutton had been at Little Women.
