I heard about Tamyra's AIDA audition from an associate in the show. I believe Tamyra mentioned it on the 'American Idol' website once upon a time also.

Did you see that segment on Primetime live that showed Kimberley Locks success and Tamayras frustraion with her album taking 2 years to be released? It is one hard buisness. Anyway; I was able to obtain a copy of the easy as life remix by Deborah Cox( and legally too) . Pounded that treadmell with it today.

It's hard for me to imagine Tamyra "bombing" her audition and Michelle Williams actually landing the role. I assume Tamyra had to do realllllllllll bad.

...trust me, Michelle Williams DID NOT get the role because her audition was the sh!t. Michelle and some friends went to see AIDA and Michelle said to herself, "hey, i'd like to do that".

Not to dog my girl, for i truly enjoyed seeing/hearing her in AIDA, but i'm sure the producers didn't just hear her voice and think "There's Our Next AIDA!" I think it was more like: "Hey, ticket sales are in the tank and Beyonce is busy, let's cast Michelle!"
LOL! that's just my opinion of course.

And yes, from what I hear - Tamyra's audition was pretty bad...as a matter of fact, she left the audition in tears.

Crp, I asked Tamyra's sister Ieesha and this what she said:

{{Ummmmmm thats not true! She landed the role but ended up turning it down because she wanted to finish the album and complete that first! she auditioned sometime last year.}}

To me it would seem like the producers of Aida would want Tamyra more than Michelle based on name alone. Granted, Michelle has a tie to the Destiny's child name. But Michelle has been one of many through the rotating Destiny door. Tamyra was a very hot commodity last year because of AI and the way she was ousted. Based on just the idea of stunt casting alone they should want Tamyra since we both agree that Michelle was likely not picked for her voice.

Dame, I understand that people bomb auditions. It comes with the territory. All I'm saying is that based on the performances that Tamyra usually gives versus those of Michelle all I was saying is that she would have had to do pretty bad to "bomb" and have them give Michelle the part. Maybe her audition wasnt that good. But I doubt she "bombed" it. Well, now that I've heard from Tamyra's sister, I definitly don't belive it. Also, there have ben many false rumors coming from those who are associated with Aida as of late. Rumors about the show definitly closing. Or who's going to take over the role next. A lot of people just want to have something juicy to say or they feel like they should since they work on a show.

Please note that I've never stated anything about Tamyra as '100% fact'...only what I've heard.

At the same time, I don't understand why she would turn down a 3 or 4 month run on broadway to complete an album that didn't get started until this year. Didn't she leave her previous label because an album was never started? Sounds to me like she should've hopped on AIDA instead of 'Boston Public'. Updated On: 4/27/04 at 03:50 PM

Yes. It is Saycon. And something about Tamayra turning down Aida doesn't sound right. Work on her much delayed album didn't start till this year. And she was actively pursuing this show. I know Dean the hair and make up guy at Idol very well. So this is first hand dish. ( and I should add... he is one of the nicest most honest persons and loves Tamayra dearly) I guess Aida just wasn't meant to be for her. And I think she will be better off for it.

Well, I believe her sister. Also, that is not true about work on her CD being delayed till this year. It's been in the works since late 2002. The first season ended Aug./Sept. of 2002. Both Tamyra and Justin were supposed to come out with a single around Dec. 2002 with albums to follow shortly after Kelly's debut. Back then the runners-up couldnt debut an albumn till 3 months after the release which is why everybody's CD was pushed back when Kelly's was pushed back. On the American IDOL: Where are They Now Special it was reported that Tamyra was working with Babyface on her CD. The CD was slated for early summer 2003. Her CD was also supposed to come out Aug. of that year. Then the trouble came with Tamyra being dropped from J records, which is probably why the CD took even longer to come out. She was having trouble with J records. Some have speculated it had to do with how they wanted to market her and the fact that she wanted more control as to not end up like Justin. She still hasn't revealed what label she is on now. So, her CD has been done for a while. It was "done" before she left J records. So, it wasn't that she left J because a CD was never started. She was supposed to come out afer Ruben. At one point J Records refused to acknowledge that they had parted ways. I have no idea during that entire span of time what songs will actually make it on her CD. Well, since she said she wrote all but one song (Which the other was written by Diane Warren) Those Babyface songs probably wont be on the CD. I don't see when the girl would have time to pursue AIDA considering she supposedly turned down a role in The Wiz, which would be less demanding, but allow her to stand-out from the ever-lengthening list of R&B divas taking on that role. She was on Boston Public, Half&Half, Tru Calling, having label issues, writing her CD, She did a little touring stint with Kelly Clarkson, She was in Europe for a minute. Also, since she got dropped last year, she's probably spent most of 2004 finding a new label and working on getting everything ready for her to come out. Plus, she's always stated that her dream first is to put out a CD. Feasibly, I don't see how she could even think about doing this show.

My point is that I don't believe that she was pursing Aida considering the fact that she always thought her CD would be coming out so she knew that she couldn't give 3 or 4 months to any show. In interviews she has stated that broadway is a dream of hers, but moreso somewhere down the roa in her career.

Crp, Yeah I understand that you are reporting hearsay. I'm not calling you a liar at all. But you did decide to put that out there about Tamyra. So, I just wanted to offer the other side of the story from a source close to Tamyra.

Truth,
None of what you are saying is untrue. You are just putting a different spin on it. The cd still is not out. And if you say it has been done.. then I guess she does have alot of time on her hands?? And I don't know if she was pursuing Aida. But she did audition for it. That I know as a fact.

The CD was reported as done when she was dropped which last Dec/Jan. So how does that constitute as having a lot of time on her hands? Or having enough time to do Aida? After that time she was working on finding a label and releasing her CD. If you notice the pattern most popstars come to bway after they have released a CD or during some downtime. What I'm saying that even though it will be two years as of Aug of this year since she was booted off of AI, she still didnt have the time to do Aida because she kept thinking her CD was coming out soon. It most likely was an option after her CD dropped or during a period of uncertainty about when her CD was going to come out. I'm speculating, but I'm assuming once she got word from her label that's probably when she turned the role down. We both agree that she auditioned. I'm just saying that her sister said she did indeed get the role. I'm likely to believe she did get it because the girl can BLOW. And I doubt any of the popstars auditions were as formal/rigorous as regular auditions. If they took Michelle they probably will take just about anybody, because Tamyra on her worse day could still top Michelle.

CRP, This is just what I heard, but I heard that Disney asked Michelle to see the show. Like they were pursuing her for the role. Or was that Toni? Help me clear this up.

TheTruth-

Much respect to you for putting out what I hope is much more accurate than what i've 'heard'. I have to say though, it doesn't make sense to me that Tamyra had actually 'completed' an album before being dropped from J Records. Remember, "J Records" isn't some little 'rinky-dink' label (i.e. Luther Vandross, Alicia Keys, Ruben Studdard, Maroon 5, Rod Steward/t etc).

Also, if she was 'dropped', it was definitely because the label was having issues with her. Then again, if Tamyra has written the majority of the material on her debut, then i can completely understand her wanting to follow her heart and take charge of her image and how she wants to be marketed. If she's sticking to her guns with regards to this (and willing to leave a record label), I have nothing but respect and admiration for her. Knowing this alone will have me in the record stores the very day her cd is released!

I truly hope her next label is better and will spend the $$$ to promote her music. This is currently a BIG concern of mine considering she's still using that 'community based' website (which is very nice!) to keep her fans updated. What this tells me is that her record company (if she currently has one) isn't doing much of anything for her at the moment....this could be dangerous if her material isn't strong enough to carry itself.

Personally, I wish she had the bragging rights of being the lead in a hit broadway musical, than having a few 'supporting' roles on a few sitcoms. If she auditioned and landed the role, she's needs to be out there 'running her mouth' and spreading the word just like Treynece is doing!!

As far as recording an album and doing AIDA, i know for a fact that both Deborah Cox and Michelle Williams were recording while doing the show. Michelle actually released her cd while she was still in the show.

With regards to Toni & Michelle's auditions, I did hear that Disney actually approached Toni - being that they maintained a relationship with her after her run in Beauty And The Beast. Michelle definitely pursued Disney herself and i LOVE HER for that. Finally, she was able to shine without having to stand in Beyonce's shadow.

And you are SO RIGHT - Tamyra could outsing Michelle (and Toni Braxton - IMHO)on her worst day. He!l, Tamyra could outsing Michelle on her worst day and with a mouth full of food! LOL!

CRP, in response to the whether the CD was completed or not. I'm assuming that all the songs were recorded, mixed, mastered, etc. My other assumption is that some of the songs that she recorded but didnt want to put on her CD were the songs that J wanted her to do, which were the ones she didn't write. So, I'm reasoning that she stated that the CD was complete in the idea that when she dropped the J songs from the CD all she had were the songs she had written thus the "CD being complete." To me, J records is really shady. All the care about is Alicia Keyes as far as females go. Monica got played by them. She could've definitly sold more records if they promoted her half the way they do Alicia. Was/is Deborah on J records?

Yes, I'm also worried about Tamyra. I don't know why they are keeping her label a secret. Her CD is supposed to come out June 1st and she doesn't even have a single or video out. I pray she doesn't release that song she did on AI. The "Mariah Ballad" days are over for now. I also hope that the winner of AI3 doesn't overshadow her because it will most likely be a female and all the females sing Soul/R&B.
