I have yet to hear Saycon, but I hear she's great...and very beautiful.

My folk saw Saycon and said she was amazing. How many people have played Aida so far?

Saycon is wonderful! I love her to death and she is the biggest sweetheart! However, no one will ever compare to Simone! Simone was my favorite Aida and believe me I have seen them all!

The first person I saw/heard in the role was Schele Williams - so she's my favorite. Definitely loved Simone though.

Saw Simone here in Los Angeles on her final performance with the tour before heading to broadway. Liked her. Not blown away. However.. maybe it had to do with the fact that the touring production was so much worse than the already mediocre broadway production.,

I caught the touring production with Paulette Ivory - Extraordinary Vocals!

Honestly, I don't know that I care much for the actual AIDA production - but I LOVE the music to death - AIDA's songs especially.

Any ideas as to what it is that makes the production so unfavorable among so many??

LOL! Yeah - I agree. Love the Museum and 'Strongest Suit' scenes though.

I saw AIDA yesterday for the matinee. Saycon was in it - fabulous! (i went to the show to see her and not deborah) no complaints at all for the show. The only thinkg that went wrong was that Amneris mike wasnt working for 'Not Me.' and while Aida was singing her part she walked off stage and got a hand held mike. She handle it so well. i loved the sets, music, choreography - especially in "another pyramid." I can't see why people dont like that show

Though scattered and divided we are still its heart...AIDA SEPTEMBER 5th, 2004...one more longing backward glance... I AM NOW "TGIF!"

Lisa who? Also for me there's never been another to come close to Headley's performance. Simone was good but looked too long in the tooth for my taste. Updated On: 4/15/04 at 06:31 PM

Thanks NYCBABE, I'm not familiar with who she is. At least we've finally changed the tone of this never-ending thread.

Deborah Cox has never had so much written about her in her life . :) I do agree; Simone was too old for the role.

I LOVE Lisa Brescia's Amneris - the best I've seen since Sherie & Idina.

Deborah is definitely the closest they've come to anyone as good as Heather. I'm curious to see who they'll cast next - the bar has definitely been raised.

Since we're talking about Amneris...does anyone know whatever happened to Kelli Fournier(Amneris on tour and swing/understudy in OBC)? She was amazing!

New to the board. I actually liked Deborah Cox better than Headley. But I went to the show not knowing who Deborah Cox was and as much as I like her I agree with what most on this post have said...she is not a superstar. Maybe she should be. But she isn't. And I understand there are some of you that absolutely love her and consider her a superstar. But to the general public she is not. Most people don't know who she is.

PS. I know this discussion has gone on for a while... but hey ; isn't that what a discussion board is for? To discuss?

No. That would be mean spirited. And she is quite wonderful in the role . No reason to be rude.

It's hilarious to me how so many people on this message board are trying to define what a superstar is to the general public.
We can only speak to what a superstar is to us.

I think one can only define something like chocolate in terms of what it tastes like to us.

Superstar as a term isn't THAT subjective. You can worship, adore, praise, admire whomever you choose and define them in YOUR eyes as a superstar I suppose.

But you can't promote that superstardom onto the "public" because as I said in an earlier post, majority rules on that account. It's a popular vote, not a talent vote.

"You can worship, adore, praise, admire whomever you choose and define them in YOUR eyes as a superstar I suppose."

THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING.
And please, let's get away from this 'majority rules' crap. This topic has nothing to do with voting.
