Since JCM is planned to be the last Hedwig @the Belasco for 8 weeks starting 1/21...that makes this house available to start "THE VISIT" previews in April for their limited engagement just making the Tony deadline. Thoughts?

I have no inside info, but heard here on the boards two conflicting things. Some thing JCM will close the show while others have said they want to get names to keep it open. I would love the Visit to come in, but is Hedwig ending??
Everyone gets the poetry of him closing it. But what if Adam Lambert or any of the other names bandied about weren't available until March, and JCM is the bridge to keep the show open?
JCM told me himself in the summer that he would go back into the show to close it.....so apart from being hopeful The Visit finds a home somewhere, I don't doubt at all the show will close by April.
Hedwig isnt closing after JCM, there was a press release that said a representative for the show has confirmed someone else will be coming in after John.
While yes, there's poetry in JCM closing Hedwig, it seems clear by the timing he's going back in to get the show through the lean winter months. I would bet if JCM sells well, then they will have someone lined up to follow in the Spring.
And are the Shuberts producing VISIT, or merely have an arrangement with the producers for one of their houses?
Too small? Are you kidding? I think it would be just fine. The ceiling in there is perfect for the set. My guess is next fall Disney will take a Nederlander house for Hunchback. (I doubt they'll cancel the Papermill run.)
Just read on The Data Lounge-Theater Gossip #147(26)
Chita went to the Shubert offices with Terrence and did the "this show must been seen before we're all dead" lunch, and the Shuberts gave them the Imperial. They know it won't run long and Cameron can then have it back for Saigon -- which also won't run long. Can Can is officially dead. Actors are taking other parts. And Gigi isn't trying to come in this season. Something Rotten wants The St. James.
