What cast recordings can make you the happiest/saddest? I know the In the Heights OBCR can always pick me up. I can't listen to the Sunday in the Park with George OBCR without crying. What recordings affect you the most emotionally, either positively or negatively?
I love Sunday even though it does make me cry...they are good tears.
Side Show is another one I turn to if I need comfort.
Adding on here. One other one that for whatever reason encourages me is Little Fish. And as soon as it comes out, the top spot goes to Next to Normal. Without a doubt.

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
Hairspray always puts me in a really good mood...and if I want chills then I listen to West Side Story.
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&.
"Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."
I cannot listen to the entire Thoroughly Modern Millie cast album without busting a move or singing along to the wacky orchestral arrangements in Speed Test. Also the Priscilla cast album has been known to brighten up many a day for me :)
I love listening to La Cage, always cheers me up and gets me in a good mood, and it is one of the few recordings I listen to from start to finish. Normally I just shuffle my itunes.
Wicked... depending on the song it'll either make me happy or sad... depending on my mood the same song that makes me happy can make me cry.

Whenever I feel like dancing and whatnot and need to be in a good moon, I usually go for Hairspray and the revival of The Rocky Horror Show and even though its not a cr, whenever I am down and I need to be uplifted, I go straight for "The Distance You Have Come" from Keys by Scott Alan
Merrily We Roll Along, Company, The Light in the Piazza and A New World are the ones I go to. They are my favorite Saturday or Sunday afternoon shows to listen to.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I don't know why, but whenever I'm in a sad mood I listen to the SITPWG OBCR, especially 'Beautiful', 'where am I going' from sweet charity, 'not a day goes by' from Merrily, 'cabaret' from the paris recording or 'lot's wife' from Caroline, or change. Probably not the best choices. :P
Songs that always make me go crazy and giddy...there's a lot. :s Story of Lucy and Jessie, Ah, But Underneath, Salty Teardrops, After You've Gone from 'All That Jazz', Evil Woman and I'm Alive from Xanadu, Choose to Be Happy from Grey Gardens, Merrily We Roll Along that comes in between Hills of tomorrow/Rich and Happy on the OBCR, mmm...Pretty much all of Caroline, Or Change as a whole. And Turkey Lurkey Time. And 'Next' from the pacific overtures OBCR.
Sorry, all these are individual songs rather than recordings. :S My bad.
Legally Blonde almost always puts me in a good mood! Whether it's the cheesy rhymes or .. whatever: does the trick. Also: "Gold" (& several otehrs) from CAMILLE CLAUDEL, "A New Life" from Jekyll & HYDE and many another Frank Wildhorn song..!
Sunday.. or A Tale of Two Cities is usually on when I'm in a sad-mood. "I'll Forget You" and "Now When the Rain Falls", both from The Scarlet Pimpernel (the latter from the concept album) are usually played as well! But all three of these have extremely uplifted/inspiring moments (to different degrees) as well.
I have heard most of Spitfire Grill and really like it. I have been looking for a copy of it and can't find one anywhere. I think it is out of print. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a copy?
I agree with SA. I use it when i need to cheer up or when im upset and need to let out some agression. Its a very easy piece to connect to.
