First of all, her exact calendar would never be public knowledge. She will undoubtedly have various concert, promotional, and event appearances throughout the year and countless writing sessions for her next album.
Second, it is not a surprise at all that she has nothing major planned for the coming year. She released her latest album less than two years ago and has been on tour for the last 15+ months... It is not indicative of a Broadway production.

Carrie has had opportunities to have songwriting credits on songs and refused them because she didn't feel she contributed enough. If she is listed as writer, she wrote it. She's spoken about how she knows people that take credit for just a few words in a song and she won't do that.

Positive.
In country music they do behind the song interviews where the songwriters tell how a successful song comes about. They're usually in Country Weekly magazine. They talk about who contributes what to the song. Other songwriters have talked about Carrie not getting the credit she deserves as a songwriter.

Then, as now, the Catholic Church moved its personnel around as needed. So though it would have been unusual, it's not impossible that the Mother Superior would have been black.
As for the Nazis, they maintained an uneasy truce with the Church, a truce for which the pope (Pius, IIRC) at the time has been much criticized since. Unless she were caught engaging in actual espionage (such as helping the Von Trapps to escape), I think Mother MacDonald would have been fine.

Highly unlikely though. Furthermore, correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel as if race relations has been a mostly American issue. There were blacks in Europe for centuries from what I understand, so although there was still racism, it was not as prevalent as it was in the U.S. I was just in Europe this summer and I was shocked (in a good way) by the number of interracial couples in Paris. That's really rare in the state I currently live in.

Without writing a doctoral dissertation, I think it's safe to say that nearly ALL societies have had their racial issues. (See the OLD TESTAMENT re the Jews in Egypt. See the NT for Jews and Samaritans.)
But in my experience (grew up in Jim Crow South and with Cuban immigration), lived in NYC, where Puerto Ricans were the minority that attracted the most attention, now live 100 miles from Mexico, a group has to achieve sufficient numbers to become an issue.
In pre WWII Europe, the Germans were concerned with Jews--especially in the Slavic countries the Nazis wanted to conquer--but not so much with Africans, because there were millions and millions of Jews, while black Africans were so rare that nobody blinked at Josephine Baker's rise to stardom in Paris.
(To take another example, Iraq and Iran--for complicated reasons that had to do with anti-Semitism, yes, but also with colonial oppression from England and the US.--were ALLIES of the Germans.)
So you're right, there's no way to casually apply our racial constructions to another culture. Were there a lot of black nuns in Austria in 1938? Probably not, but it isn't a glaring anachronism like a black governor of Alabama would be in the same year.

Very excited..but a little confused as to why it's being done on a Thursday, i.e. a school night. Shouldn't this be on the weekend when kids can stay up later? I mean this is a family show and it's being broadcast at 8 pm. And I assume it's going to be a three hour broadcast.?
Not really complaining...just curious. And thanks to all for sharing all the news etc.

Aside from Sunday nights, Thursday evenings are the most popular night for special broadcasts and events. For whatever reason there is a greater number of people watching primetime television on Thursday nights. Friday and Saturday nights are not popular nights for big primetime events (as most people are out and not at home). Thursday night makes perfect sense to me.
If 11:00pm is too late for you and/or your family, just DVR it and watch later that weekend.

No it's definitely not too late for me or my family, I was just wondering why Thursday. I personally would have chosen a Sunday evening..maybe starting at 7 (but of course there is those pesty football games..LOL Interesting about Thursday however..I didn't realize that.
And obviously anyone can DVR it and watch whenever they want or watch it it over and over whenever they want. I was just thinking of first night ratings on a "school night". That's all.
