I also literally gaaped when this announcement was made. I can't believe this show is closing. I concur that it deserves t run for AT LEAST a year. But, it recouped, it had a successful run, the concept was brilliant (To me, at least, it certainly didn't appeal to everyone).
I am curious as to how this show will do on tour. It's not exactly a show that any random Joe Schmoe will run out and see, with it's morbid air and "out there" concept. Only time will tell, I guess.

I was coming from out of town again twice in the fall to see the show for the last time. I just bought my ticket for September 3rd and will begin making new travel arrangements.
If anyone gets tickets for the 7:00 show that day, please come by and say hello to the wheepy girl in row bb, seat 112!
Well, honestly, at first I had A LOT of doubts as to how the whole actors/musician concept would work. However, after seeing video clips on Broadway.com, I was convinced that it would work well. Then, I saw it and... whoa. One of the best productions I've seen in a while. It was a little slow at first, but by "My Friends" they had me under their spell. Good luck to the cast of SWEENEY TODD, and I hope to see another revival of SWEENEY TODD soon.

Man! And I was booking show tickets this weekend for the 9th/ 10th September weekend- I've already booked my flight so I can't go beforehand. Crap, my only chance to see Lupone

-Tick, tick..BOOM!
Anyone think some of the cast members will tour with the show? I imagine it's going to be hard to find replacements for all of them, at least without reorchestrating everything. Though they have to have some people in mind since they did announce to tour.
Seeing Sweeney was among the many highlights of two recent visits to NYC. It is a fine production and I feel very lucky that my rekindled love affair with your city took place at this time.
Wow. That's really unfortunate to hear. I was really hoping to see it one last time, but now I know that's not possible. Such a shame... I just hope that the tour will be good, since it's such a hard show to master. Best of luck to this wonderful, absolutely talented cast!
I gasped outloud. I knew that it would close within the next few months and intially though Thanksgiving. I had no idea it would close this soon! I'm so sad!
I just bought my ticket! Its the last row of the theater but I don't care, as long as I am there.
