Well, here's the annual post-Labor Day bloodbath -- as I predicted last week only Wicked and Jersey Boys were pretty much uneffected. Double digit drops in attendance for most shows with the struggling ones -- Wedding Singer at $367K ....ouch -- particularly hit hard.
This happens every September.

Wow, not a good week for most shows. The Wedding Singer and The Producers were hit especially hard. But I feel really sorry for Avenue Q. I hate seeing it in the 70's.

Wicked? Dropping .2% is NOTHING for this time of year. It only sold 32 fewer seats than it did last week. That's an incredibly impressive showing.
RENT is another story.

wow, those groesses look horrible! but as said before- it's September but THE PRODUCERS looks grim, TARZAN- i cant believe that, and WEDDING SINGER... i feel like crying
Reasons for poor week.Every business has up and downs it doesn't reflect on your product. If your at 90% one week and 60% the next there are external forces at work namely the ticket buyers who have other priorities. 1.Kids back to school 2.Didn't want to visit NY during about the time of 9-11 3.Competition from the NYMF 4.People closing up cottages ,digging out longjohns. 5.Just recieved their credit card bills from summer.BooHoo 6. Need to get their wind back.
Margo, I was thinking that with Wicked, anything below 100% is a rarity, so a .2% drop technically is having an "impact" when compared with their own attendance, instead of compared to the attendance of other shows.

Wanting life but never
knowing how
Sad to see "Tarzan" down so much. But, happy (and somewhat surprised) "Drowsy" didn't take as much of a fall as some of the other shows.

This was the Lion King's third lowest attendance. The week of Sept. 10, 2001 was it's lowest ever @ 53.3%(for obvious reasons) & the week of Jan. 23, 2006 saw only 68.4%. I highly doubt TLK is losing any steam though. It'll still be around for many more years.
The Producers, however, are another story. It's never been at the bottom of the attendance. I give it two more years.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Have to wonder how much longer the Wedding Singer can last. It hasn't had a good week in quite some time. Sept. & Oct. are considered the dead season(as well as Jan. & Feb.). We need to get used to these numbers as they'll last until late October.
