In searching the internet looking for information on "Beyond the Rainbow" a musical about Judy Garland's life that is premiering at Meadow Brook Theatre in Michigan I found this article.
Is anyone going to this?
I'm intrigued, but what quality of productions does Meadow Brook Theatre put on?
Saw this in Palm Beach about three years ago or so. Didn't think it was going to continue having a life after that. At the time I saw it, it was a very small production with the two actresses playing Judy, two actors playing the men in her life, and one other actress playing her mother and a few other random characters. There was no real set (a unit set and chairs constantly being rearranged), so I'd expect something similar unless they completely reinvented the show.
"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.
I've only seen one show there, a Sherlock Holmes mystery about a year ago. It was slightly above average, nothing spectacular even for a professional company. They had a change of management shortly after that (which was actally news on Playbill.com), so I don't know how things have changed in terms of quality.
