Saying goodbye is never easy - especially to a musical that has touched the hearts and souls of so many during it's 13+ years on Broadway. BroadwayWorld invites you, our readers, to take a journey back in this exclusive video retrospective featuring highlights, memories and more from Disney's Beauty and the Beast which will play its final performance on Sunday, July 29th, 2007.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
Great video, just saw this for the first time two weeks ago. One thing I was curious about was how Donny Osmond got away with playing Gaston and all those comments about how big and manly he was, apparently they make him wear long sleeves.
I am so sad to see Beauty and the Beast go. I saw it when I was little with the origanal cast. It was my first broadway show. I am gona miss it so much.
"He found something that he wanted, had always wanted and always would want— not to be admired, as he had feared; not to be loved, as he had made himself believe; but to be necessary to people, to be indispensable."
-F. Scott Fitzgerald's This Side of Paradise
Very nice! I think Van der Pol is clearly one of the best actresses to ever grace the role of Belle, in comparison with some of the others in those videos.
Loved seeing all the clips of the Belles, I wish there had been one of Kerry. I love Anneliese, Susan and Ashley, they are seriously powerhouses.
Susan and her comment about playing Mrs. Potts! HAHAH. I love her.
Beauty and The Beast was my first Broadway musical. October 22nd, 2000, a Sunday matinee. Andrea Mcartle was Belle. I will never, ever forget that until the day I die. One of the most memorable moments in my life was seeing Beauty and The Beast as a kid.
A tearful Au Revoir to Beauty and The Beast.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
I can't wait to get home from work so that i can watch this video!! I love BATB and I'm sad that it is closing. I'm excited to hear that there is Jamie Lynn Sigler footage! I rememeber hearing some of her "Change in Me" a while back, and thought she sounded great!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only teary one! Craig, thank you! You have made the days of so many people around me a much more pleasant one, to be certain!
The extra footage...xoxoxo? And if there is a (name your favorite diety) in (ditto), could these videos exist on BWW into perpetuity to allow us addicts just a tiny diversion from the mess known as life?
Well Craig, in my world, you're as close to the golden goose as I can imagine. Keep the videos coming, and know there's a special place in my heart (if not in heaven) for people like you!
