What do you think?
It doesn't have to be negative or positive.
If one person gets a fan letter, do you think they sometimes tell the cast that they got a fan letter and it said how great everyone was?
Do they ever talk about those people who seem very "stalker-ish"
Do they talk to each other about the number of times a fan has seen the show?
If a performer happens to see someone in the audience that they've seen before and the cast knows pretty well, will they ever say to another cast member [backstage], ___ is here again?

Well, these people weren't fans, but at the stage-door at Sweeney, the cast told me that they talked about the people sitting next to me and did not like them. (They looked bored and left at intermission.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Yes, I've seen it happen and I've heard about it happening.
There are 'repeat offenders' that casts often know by face (and more often than not, by name) and usually they're not at all annoyed at their presence or thinking "God, dont they have anything BETTER to do?" but will mention to each other backstage (for instance) "Oh did you see Heather? She's here tonight".
And then there are the slightly scary ones who make the cast say "oh my god not again!" and leave through another exit. (and yes, every theatre has a sneaky exit)
Things you say on here ARE talked about by performers. I have had several things Ive said on this board (and others) come back to me verbatim from different performers (both friends, and not)

I would think that we fans are talked about by the actors/actresses. I know the PHANTOM and WICKED casts do

Oh yes! The same bitch sessions on this board are the same bitch session backstage!
The lights might be bright but they can still see you...and love or hate, they're glad to be recognized. Wouldn't you?
Better dish, is to hear what the pit musicians have to say about it all. They'll dish both audience AND performers. Such fun, this business...

Definitely, its only normal.
I recently had someone ask me what I do for a living and when I responded with website design, they said something to the effect of 'oh yeah, I remember hearing about that.'
Ive also heard about a certain cast that likes to keep a list of hot people sitting in the front row during the show. (ask zeppy about that!)
And since Im a bit of a metal head... one of the happiest days of my life was overhearing Sebastian Bach talking about me to a former member of Guns N Roses after a performance of JCS. It still makes me giggle.

As one of them, I must concur. We're often COMPLETELY overlooked by the cast and invisible to the audience, but we see and hear EVERYTHING, and believe me...we remember.
Oh yes. We remember.

Yes, they do.
Because when I went to All Shook Up my final time, the cast spoke of me as "Mr Front Row" for being very into the show. Cara Cooper and Nikki M. James spoke highly of me.

I would think that some fans who see shows multiple times and maybe sit in the first couple of rows get seen by the cast and probably would provoke some kind of conversation backstage about that person being there, but it could be more postive than negative.
I mean, before I saw Jersey Boys last week I left a comment on Daniel's myspace about coming and he brought that up in conversation at the stage door and he didn't seem weirded out or anything, he seemed to be himself. I'm reconized alot by a couple of the Jersey Boys cast basically just John, Daniel, and Christian(kinda), but it's a really cool thing to be reconized by the cast.
What I think is even more interesting is if the cast comes out of the stage door and sees you and mentions that you were in the front row and that you were a great audience. Peter Marinos did that last year at The Producers(it was Hunter's last show in his first run at The Producers) and he came out and said to me, my mom, and my sister "You were in the front row" and it caught us a little off guard, and from there I think my mom started a conversation with Peter(It was January 2005 I can't remember that far).

Posted: 8/28/06 at 12:21pmSomewhat related, when the play, "Jeffrey" was off-Broadway, I wrote the lead a letter saying how much I enjoyed both the play and his performance. Many months later, we were introduced via a mutual friend. At that point, "Jeffrey", said he remembered my name and thanked me for the nice letter I sent him.

Dottie, how did he know it was you who wrote the letter? Did you attach a pic of yourself in the letter?
When I saw Bombay Dreams in Atlanta, I was on the 3rd row and cast member Monica Kapoor told me she saw me! =)
