I enjoyed the OLC recording of the Woman in White, particularly since it was recorded live onstage at the opening night.
But I'm really hoping they do a new Broadway cast recording. I think Adam Brazier's voice (he was awesome when I saw it on Nov 11) is much better than his London counter-part, and enjoy Michael Ball better than Crawford. And I think they've made some nice changes to the score & lyrics since it's World Premiere.
BUT - my other reason is that it would be nice to have a full orchestra rather than the synthesizers they use at the theatre (and used on the London recording). Listen to ALW's "The Likes of Us" with a full orchestra - or even "Phantasia's" WIW suite, I think the music would come out with more depth and beauty than it already has...
To second that jim, after listening to the OLC...the story is a bit different...some of the songs in this version are not in the broadway version, and of course, the "click, click click" ending
and who wouldn't want to hear michael ball, adam brazier and roh bohmer too?
It would be nice...Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Really Useful Group, I would think, would have enough $$$ to make a new recording...I also think Michael Ball would be a big draw for it as well...
We should definitely demand a new recording, not only for Adam Brazier but mostly for Micheal Ball. His Fosco is hysterical and is an amazing theatrical performance, that is much better than Micheal Crawford on the OLC.
Keep your morals, I don't have time. Keep your lovers, I'm changing mine!

i don't know how much i would pay to have that new ending recorded on a cd. i also really like how they cut up "i believe my heart" for Broadway. i also love michael ball's count fosco. if they could do a live recording that would be even more amazing. but i'll take anything at this point. i love woman in white.
The way they cut up I Believe my Heart was one of the nicest changes to the score. I also like that they removed "If not for me, for her" and had the "Evermore without you" reprise in it's place - nice way to join Marian and Walter in their sense of loss of Laura.
I would think that since the original was recorded live that would have been cheaper than a studio recording? If so, then they have money they didn't use the first time to do it right this time! Hey they learned from their mistakes from the first Sunset recording to the second one they made. Night and day in comparison...
I too agree they should make a new recording. However, I can understand why they wouldn't also... but I would definetely support it, this cast is fantastic. Michael just lights up my life at the moment, haha... and Adam is such a joy to listen to. Overall, comparing Broadway's production to the London recording, there are some harmony and note changes that really enhance the show the songs and should be recorded

Yes, I believe they had cut that song from London when they did some revisions and changed the ending. Believe me, the action and story move a lot better without the song... It's a nice song, but seeing the show, I didn't miss it at all.
I too would much rather listen to the Broadway cast then London. I have never been a Crawford fan and Ball is not only a better singer but his performance was very fun. I completely agree with you on Adam Brazier. He's so moving in that role. I bought "The likes of us" CD because he was on it. I'm not overly thrilled with the material but his voice was worth the marked-up import price I paid. Besides those two very strong reasons, there are many changes in the story from the OLC recording. These changes should be recorded because unlike many shows that transfer to B'way from the west end, this one is actually a HUGE improvment. SPEND THE MONEY ALW GOD KNOWS YOU HAVE IT!
I couldn't agree more with you. There needs to a recording. All the voices are amazing on the B'WY cast and I am not too thrilled with the London cast. The girls are the same but the men here are much stronger. My mom bought me the London cast and i've only listen a few times because it spoils my memories of Broadway cast. It's all about the three B's. Ball, Brazier, Bohmer.
Does anyone know if there are any other recordings with Adam Brazier. I can only find "The Likes Of Us" but it's really expensive. Thanks!
The I Believe My Heart changes were that they alternated the lyrics right from the start... For example, Walter starts the song, and the first time "I believe my heart, what else can I do" Laura is singing it rather than Walter.
Adam was amazing and so was Michael ...but i don't think it's worth it to record it again when all the female leads are the same. I don't know...i would sign the petition...but i wouldn't buy the cd again.

Michael, Adam and Maria are just outstanding....i also heard that Lisa Brescia is amazing as Marian during matinees....besides she is so sweet! she is super nice to her fans.

Although I preferred Martin Crewes' on-stage performance as Walter (Adam is a little "overzealous" for me), I do think that Adam has a stronger voice (and I think Adam is growing into the role).
I absolutely prefer Ron Bohmer's Glyde to Oliver Darley's (far more charming and more menacing) and Michael Ball's performance as Fosco should be captured on a Cast Recording. He and Maria are magic together.
So I agree that it's worth it for the three "B"s!

Just listened again to the WIW after I had listened to the Likes of Us (the recently released ALW-TR CD for those who don't know) and Adam Brazier definitely deserves to have his performance recorded. I also think Friedman after all she's been through and performing the role on two of the largest stages for theatre (NY and London) sounds much better now than she did on Opening Night in London last year.
But, most importantly, after listening to The Likes of Us recording, what a difference to have a full orchestra. The difference would probably be like listening to the World Premiere Recording and the American Premiere Recordings of Sunset Boulevard - you can't compare the difference.
