Uh, two out of three of those sound like great ideas.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Broadway is nowhere near important or good enough, quality wise, to ever hope that Kendrick Lamar performs on it at the moment. It would be an insult to Kendrick, not an insult to Broadway, if Kendrick was a replacment in a (now) cog-in-the-machine broadway show.

Don’t you mean as Philip Stuckey?

I saw the show again this weekend and Al honestly isn't that bad. His Joe is a little more friendly and less grumpy than Dakin and the others but Take It From an Old Man was actually quite cute. Plus Al sings it in the original key which is a bit high so props to him!

I feel like that makes a lot of sense as an actor/character choice. Al Roker is literally sunshine, so I think people would be disappointed if he played it as a straight up crab-ass

I saw his second show. He was a lot better than expected. His Joe is cute, and his singing is surprisingly good.
Since it was his second show, I'm not sure if he's planning on changing it, but he doesn't allow a pause between "she lost the baby" and "close call", and I think the pause makes "close call" all the more jarring and surprising, so I was a bit disappointed he didn't incorporate that. Dakin is still my favorite, but I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Roker and he was lovely at the stagedoor.
