When the show was at Second Stage, Alice couldn't act scared in Newark at 3AM. I mean, she was TRAGIC in the book scenes. But she improved.

When the show was at Second Stage, Alice couldn't act scared in Newark at 3AM. I mean, she was TRAGIC in the book scenes. But she improved.
Having seen the show at 2nd Stage numerous times, I completely disagree with that statement.

Posted: 6/20/10 at 11:08amI saw it many times at Second Stage, as well. While she was totally committed, her book scenes were awful IMO. She paused after every three words, a la Madonna in SPEED-THE-PLOW. "Take some time...for yourself...I'm going...to have sex...with your fah-ther."

Posted: 6/20/10 at 5:31pmReba would be interesting- the show has a slight alt-country edge to it in a lot of the songs, and an actress who is well-known in all four fields of the arts (though not an EGOT), besides having that country base, might be very interesting in the role.
