If she were ten years younger, I could actually see it. I'm not kidding.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
When the show was at Second Stage, Alice couldn't act scared in Newark at 3AM. I mean, she was TRAGIC in the book scenes. But she improved.

I saw it many times at Second Stage, as well. While she was totally committed, her book scenes were awful IMO. She paused after every three words, a la Madonna in SPEED-THE-PLOW. "Take some time...for yourself...I'm going...to have sex...with your fah-ther."

Reba would be interesting- the show has a slight alt-country edge to it in a lot of the songs, and an actress who is well-known in all four fields of the arts (though not an EGOT), besides having that country base, might be very interesting in the role.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
I'd kill to see Reba do it, but then again I just want her back on broadway. How old is Annie compaired to Alice?

Aren't we forgetting that whomever plays Diana has to be a top-notch ACTRESS? You can get away with so-so acting in a lot of musicals. This is not one of them. Not to mention that Diana is in her early 40s.
How would it change the story if Diana were in her early to mid 50's? That she waited to have children till her mid to late 30's like many women today do?
