Well Angela was only suppose to be with the show until April 25th, and since she won't be performing for her "final performance", it is safe to assume that she extended.
She was only contracted though April 4th. It looks like they're giving her a nice vacation, and then she will return. Thank God! Updated On: 2/20/10 at 07:00 PM
As others surmised, this was part of the plan all along. A friend who is a Tony voter didnt see it in January when they invited the voters and when she checked with the show's management, she was assured already a few weeks ago that all of the original cast would still be there in May when they will re-invite voters.

Do we know till when? What are the chances of her being there on may 15th?

Wow... then I do have a chance to see Ms. Lansbury when I go to NYC in early June. Let's see: "Looped" (hopefully), "Addams Family", "La Cage" and now "ALNM". A subsitute play: I'd love to see "Boys in the Band." RC in Austin, Texas... looking forward to seeing Miss Patti in her show on March 25th.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Yay my tickets (second-row centre) are just before her April 'holiday', so excited!
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
GIVING her a vacation? I'm fairly certain she EARNED it.
But good news for those that haven't yet seen her!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Amazing, news, thank you! I was about to buy tickets for March next week instead of the April date I originally wanted. Now we can plan one trip after all!
Aww! I already took time off from April 12-19 to plan my NY trip, and one of the main reasons I wanted to go (my first time to NY) was to see AL and CZJ in ALNM! This just totally ruins all my plans as I can't take the week before off, and my sister wanted to see the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA, so we can't go later than April.
Depending on how the search for replacements goes. They are trying.
