Kennedy Center Honors Performance Clips

Once again, I will try to have thread that is positive for a change. There have been some excellent performances honoring winners of the award. Let's post some of our favorites for people to enjoy. I will start with a couple of my favorites below.

Abbey Road Medley (Paul McCartney Tribute) - Steven Tyler - 2010 Kennedy Center Honors

Adam Lambert - Performing "Believe" by Cher - 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors

That performance jumped to my top favorite.

Cool story....

Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son, who played drums that night did a show at my theater last year. I got to talk with him for a bit and told him how much I loved the performance. He told me that right as he was walking onstage the sound in his earpieces went out. He said he couldn't properly hear to follow the song and pretty much winged it. Well, he winged it very well! He is also a very cool guy.

I have to admit I got a good laugh from this post. I did not want to initially respond because I wanted the thread to be about the clips and not the reasons she got canceled. Enough time has passed so what the heck. I will say without hesitation that Ms. Osnes is very talented singer and actress and has been critically acclaimed. The only time I saw her on Broadway was in the show "Bandstand" which I enjoyed very much and thought she should have received Tony nomination (so did some critics). In that show, she also showed she is a pretty good dancer. She is also IMO a very attractive woman. I believe I may have posted the link below before but will do it again. It is article written by someone critical of Ms. Osnes due to the vaccination issue who makes the case about whether Broadway has the capacity to forgive. Read the article, think it is well done.

When Does Broadway Welcome Back Laura Osnes? — OnStage Blog

Laura is wildly talented and absolutely gorgeous. That's a big reason she was on Broadway for so many years and was chosen to take over for Kelli in South Pacific at only 23 and absolutely killed it. Yes, she was a star. I adored Laura and saw everything she was in. And yes, both Laura and Corey were great in Bandstand, and the show should have gotten more attention. These are not controversial statements.

But, she f*cked up badly. She went against basically everyone in the Broadway community during Covid. Obviously, emotions were very heightened at that time but facing backlash, she simply ran away to Tennessee and never came back. Like a coward. It's not a coincidence she moved to a red state. Tennessee has some of the most horrifying LGBTQ+ laws in America, and lacks statewide anti-discrimination protections for housing, employment, public accommodations, you name it. It's odd a person who lived and worked in the theater community in New York City with tons of other theater professionals (many of which are LGBTQ+), would want to buy a house and pay taxes in a state that tries to eliminate the Rainbow Community. I am not a part of that beautiful community, but I would never support a state that wants to erase my friends and family like they don't matter and shouldn't have the same protections as everyone else. That is fundamentally wrong and completely abhorrent.

She is not welcome back to New York since she exposed herself as a huge fan of a Sociopathic Child Rapist. She shook hands with that "man". She smiled at that "man". She thanked that "man" for inviting her. She performed for that "man". All intentionally. While her creepy husband beamed with pride. Gross.

It's a good thing the Broadway community is full of gorgeous and talented women who aren't problematic or support rapists. Laura was forgotten on Broadway a long time ago.

"Agree with you 100%."

"At that time, it was considered very dangerous for yourself and others if you did not get the vaccine. Her reason for not getting the vaccine was not medically sound. Have no idea who her doctor was but he/she was wrong with advice given her. By not getting vaccine, she was fired from a couple of jobs at the very least. In other words, she never hurt anyone by giving them COVID. In retrospect, let's review a couple of things. The vaccine did not prevent you from getting COVID (I got COVID with vaccine and booster). It did not stop you from transmitting it to other people. The harm of not getting the vaccine was to yourself because the main benefit was lessening the symptoms of COVID. "

"Why did she move to Tennessee? I would guess it was because she could get work there and we all have bills to pay. Maybe it was because they have no state income taxes. Maybe her and her husband like the weather compared to NY. I would also bet before the move she was not checking the laws of the state in regard to the LGBTQ+ community. You may think that is wrong, but I would bet I am correct. You have your opinion for not liking Tennessee and you are not going to get argument from me. I will point out Laura Osnes lives in Nashville which is a progressive city in a conservative state".

"She also performed at Kennedy Center honors when President Obama and President Biden were President. I will provide clip of 2021 performance for Dick Van Dyke which had to be done differently due to COVID. (see link below). She was not vaccinated but was allowed to perform due to being tested for COVID and obeying other rules put in place. All of the things you mentioned were probably her being polite. You could dislike somebody very much but in a public setting you try to be nice even if the person is not worthy of it. Remember, she is an actress and can easily fake liking somebody in that setting. I know absolutely nothing about her husband so I will not judge whether he is creepy.

It's a good thing the Broadway community is full of gorgeous and talented women who aren't problematic or support rapists. Laura was forgotten on Broadway a long time ago.

"Yes, it is nice Broadway always has a supply of talented and beautiful woman. "

One last thing. Recently, the baseball team (Los Angeles Dodgers) were invited to the White House to honor them winning the 2025 World Series. Over 25 players (including Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani) , coaches and manager went and shook hands with Trump and smiled in pictures with him. They also gave Trump gifts and not just the standard uniform jersey. They also gave him a championship ring. My question to you is do you condemn the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team for smiling at "that man", shaking hands with "that man" and thanking "that man" for the invitation.

Lolz. You trying to defend a Rapist that literally everyone hates now is sad. He's done in November and he's so f*cking stupid he thinks he can stop the election and voting by mail, the most popular form of voting. He never got the memo that states run elections and sadly he can't cheat. I'm sure you'll deny him looking for 11,000 fraudulent votes in GA but that's him on the audio so just like the rest of your dwindling cult, you can't lie about it 😊

We don't like MAGAts here and sadly you didn't deny voting for a Rapist when KDogg called you out. You have daughters? Sickening. Explain your support for a man that violates 12 year olds to them...... 🫠

Oh, and men with integrity and class like Jalen Hurts and my favorite baseball player Dodger Mookie Betts (men who actually like and respect women) did not attend anything at The White House, for obvious reasons.

" Show me where I was trying to defend the rapist. No kidding, Republicans will get clobbered in November. Not only is Trump not popular, but the Republicans also can't even get things done when the control the entire government. Anybody who has elderly parent or child in college out of state, knows they may need to vote by mail. My father has voted by mail for over a decade, and my daughter voted by mail for 2 years while attending FSU. So please inform me and others why I would want voting by mail to go away. Trump filed numerous cases about election fraud and lost every one of them. I have stated that on some thread years ago."

"I don't feel the need to tell kdogg or anybody else who I voted for, some people like to keep things private. It is quite obvious that I am not a fan of the Democratic party, so I did not vote for Hillary or Joe Biden. In posts I have referred to Trump as a scumbag and not a nice person so why vote for him. Since you are making this a big freaking deal, I will tell people I voted 3rd party because both candidates have sucked for years. Is it a wasted vote, probably. Sad you have gone back to name calling again Sutton, it is kind of juvenile."

"Sutton, don't try and talk about things you are clueless about. Mookie Betts went to the White House in 2024 championship celebration. He did not go this year because he wanted to spend day off with his family since he recently had a child. He made statement this decision was not political. Nice try Sutton."

I was referring to this year since that is what you referred to. Many people did not attend, including him, and it's clearly political. Some people don't actually want to touch maniacal rapists, and hopefully you can completely understand that. No trying necessary. You being the sole defender of The Rapist of Children is as pathetic as it gets. Jesus Christ. It won't matter soon enough. Have a super weekend!
