I am well aware of the controversy around them. I like to watch news from all angles to see what is being put out there, especially outside of the U.S.

Just to clarify for others, because I see numbers like this posted often, what's really happening here is an increase in reports and reporting practices. It's very likely that the number of per capita rapes in the UK has not changed much, but the amount of people willing to go to the police about it, and the amount of police willing to actually follow up on or make note of it, has massively increased.

26 years ago people still thought date rape was a joke.
