Celebrity Row

Why is the media so fascinated about celebrities attending major sporting events? (World Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, US Open etc.) Do they really believe that showing celebrities at game enhances a TV broadcast. Does mentioning them in newspaper article really matter to sports fan wanting to know about the game. Celebrities are rich and can afford tickets (good seats) or are given them free (Celebrity row at MSG). For the most part, they are not real avid fans of the sport but are there because it is the cool event to see or their agent thinks it is good publicity. Maybe it is me, but I don't care what celebrity is attending the game and wish media would not be so fixated on them. Not going to change, oh well.

Totally agree.

I was sick of seeing shots of Dustin Hoffman and the Stillers at Wimbledon yesterday. I doubt they entered the ballot that ordinary plebs like us has to go through.

Of course I feel the same way about the Royal Box. To me they are just celebrities. I felt sorry for little Prince George dressed in a suit and tie on one of the hottest days of the year. He's a child ffs.

I completely agree. It’s only there to make the rest of us feel inadequate, very disgraceful. Also, why does Anna Wintour still get in the royal box? I feel like it’s always the same people

Prince George will be 13 next week which means he is not a little kid. He supposedly loves tennis and plays regularly. He has even been given a tennis lesson by Roger Federer. In addition, I am sure he is being taught that this is part of the job of being an heir to the throne.

Because she is famous British woman for her years running Vogue magazine. Another example, Dame Mary Berry is always in the royal box because she is British baking icon. Personally, the people I like to see in royal box are Wimbledon champions and tennis superstars. I will include other British sports stars like Beckham who really seems to love tennis.

Tennis lessons from Roger Federer?

Jeez… such privilege based on an accident of birth. Which is true of us all here, I guess, to differing degrees.

Roger Federer and his wife (Mika) have become friends with Princess Kate. One time when they visited her, Federer hit some balls with a young Prince George. It was not some structured lesson; it was just a casual thing of hitting a few balls to a young boy. BTW - Numerous children have had the privilege of hitting balls with tennis stars at camps and events for underprivileged children. Plenty of top players are pretty good with doing charity events.

Did not mean to imply that they are not insanely privileged. I was just trying to point out that tennis players for the most part are good people and do things for people who are not rich and privileged.

I don’t want to see any celebrity at any of these sporting events. The era of celebrity is officially over. Social media has democratized everything, someone’s idol is another’s who? Literally who cares who’s in the stands.

The answer is the media cares who is in the stands because they believe the general public cares. Look how crazy the "Swifties" were going when Taylor Swift attended KC Chief game.

Why? Highland Guy doesn't disrespect women and especially Women of Color like your buddy there. Yet, they support Scott Rudin and brags about it. The obsession regarding disrespecting a Black businesswoman is gross and sad. Beyonce is a feminist, ally, and close to a billionaire. That person has made over 20 threads over the years bashing her, a working Mother. Gross.

Huh?

This thread is about celebrities on camera at sporting event. The Carters were literally at the final yesterday. That's all.

I spotted Matt Damon later too.

Sutton is obsessed with me.

I have no memory of supporting Scott Rudin, let alone bragging about it. I probably praised a show once without realizing his involvement as producer.

Poor Sutton. God help her.

Moderators, I resent continued slurs against my character. I am not racist. Sutton is the one defining Mrs. Carter by her skin color. I am the one treating her the same way I treat all soulless billionaires.

"Beyoncé is a feminist, ally, and close to a billionaire…"

A feminist who took her husband's name, gave her children her husband's name, and went on a "Mrs Carter" tour. “If you like it then you better put a ring on it…” Lol, stuck in the 1950s much? Buy your own fcking ring.

An ally who promotes resorts in Dubai. Oxymoron.

“Close to a billionaire" You say that like it's a good thing. Like the typical right-leaning centrist you are. A billionaire who needs Dubai money?

Jay, I was teasing you. I guess next time I will have to use an "emoji". You have to admit you have posted issues you have had with Beyonce on this board. I just thought it was funny that of all the celebrities there yesterday you chose to only mention them in the beginning. No big deal.

Okay. They were the first ones I saw in the audience on camera.

I didn't even mention the whole Dubai thing until our resident sh!t-stirrer jumped in with bizarre accusations of racism and misogyny.

No hard feelings.

For the record. HG is a fan of Beyonce and has posted some threads about her. Jay is known for not being fond of her and has said so in HG threads which has irritated HG. I just thought it was funny that Jay mentioned her being at the World Cup when he is not a big fan of hers. As I said in a reply to Jay, of all the celebrities at World Cup yesterday I was surprised he mentioned Beyonce and Jay-Z only. I think it is simple to understand why I thought somebody like HG would mention her attending World Cup since he is a known fan of hers.

The obsession and the lies JayZ (who STILL does not understand how funny that name is) tells about coming for Black women and other women is disturbing. He still doesn't get why slamming a Black Woman is a bad look and refuses to apologize. And of course he uses the "I don't even SEE skin color" argument, something only ignorant, white people would ever state.

And addressing that person's lies about "not supporting Scott Rudin", here is proof (35) of that. Of course, JayZ (HAHA) will say "I never wrote that, someone broke into my account" but we can all see that statement. He will deny it, of course. Or, say "I did not know he was part of that production" which is, of course, bullsh*t.

When called out by many users, they call me a terrorist because I.....stated a fact in post 45. They can never (and have never) admitted they are wrong on this website. Literally once. So, every time they come for a woman, especially a woman of color, I will call them out. It really is sad how obsessed they are with Beyonce. For over a decade. Forever the victim, JayZ won't understand, realize or take accountably for this. I wonder how many threads calling out men JayZ has created? The answer is zero, friends. In my opinion and many others on this board, JayZ is racist and sexist. The world doesn't revolve around him and that deeply, deeply angers him. It is truly unhinged behavior, and as others have mentioned, deep hatred of women is tied to incel and MAGA culture, as MemorableUserName wisely pointed out about JayZ in the Gay Cruise thread.

JayZ said: "I don't constantly bring up Beyoncé, I haven't mentioned her in over a year.

Nah More lies. Watch, he will make himself the victim immediately.

Highland Guy has never done anything but boost Beyonce up and say how much he loves her work. You know, what a real man does for all women. I'm sure you boost up for your Wife and make her feel confident Zeppie, because that's what actual men do in the world.
