a big succesful show that hasn't been revived yet.
 Jan 11 2010, 05:33:25 PM
I squirm every time I read Crazy for You. What a waste of good music.

Few things in life would make me as happy as the chance to see a Tommy revival.

Urinetown-- too soon? haha

Yeah I have to agree with Drunk Chita. I mean, Gavin's the only one who's been to the West End, and he was a replacement in Mary Poppins. That was my first reaction: no one is well known, so from a marketing pov, is their any advantage?

I have tickets for exactly a week after the last performance. ):

It's weird to me that say Will Swenson will be going, since aren't his kids pretty solidly rooted right here in the US of A? And I wonder if Theo will go, what with the announced move of AI. If I were guessing, he probably will.

Tommar is leaving to be the caterpillar in Wonderland, and apparently the tribe didn't know until today. Heard on twitter from various sources. Any one have any clue is this is actually true?

Alison Case as Baby Spice would be amazing. xD

It reminds me way too much of Crazy for You's artwork.

What? I really just don't understand how showing concern about Allison Case makes someone a bad person. everyone said they felt bad. I wonder about her return because I know she loves the show. And yeah it is interesting to know who will replace her. What else do you expect us to do? If people spent five pages talking about how sad they were we'd be "getting too wrapped up in the people and not the show."

I just don;t understand what the big deal is here at all. People are sad about A

Equality Now Pin from Broadway Impact
A signed ripped Berger shirt (it also says GIVE IT TO CLAUDE)
Picture with Jonathan Groff (nicest man ever)
and a FREE picture with Kobes (:

My best friend got an original HAIR playbill, and then we found another, only to have someone else take it. ):

I DID wait on line for four hours, and yeah, I didn't hate it or love it, but it's definitely worth it, even if just for the reason that Greek tragedies are so rarely produced.

Actually, what you said makes a lot of sense. I could see how Claude IS already invisible. But I also clearly remember a monologue about how he wishes he was invisible because then he could perform miracles and make it snow, hence the significance at the end.

I went during previews, got there at 9, and I could see the front of the line. how many people this translates into, im not sure. but i think if i;d gotten there at 12, i would still have gotten tickets.

I was the one who made the "being young" comment, and you;re certainly right, it isn't the same, and I'm not saying it is. But the world is definitely still a crazy crazy place. As a kid growing up in New York City, who had friends' parents killed on 9/11, I think I've always been forced to understand that the world isn't fair. And that's a very strong part of why HAIR speaks to me, because the tribe is realizing this same thing (though I'm not saying Vietnam and 9/11 are the same, because they

(sorry to suddenly switch topics)

I forgot 3-5-0-0 and What a Piece of Work is Man. I always liked 3500, especially during the show. It was so passionate it was scary. I never liked WaPoWiM until I saw the show, because I never understood why it was relevant at that point. It seemed very displaced. But now it is definitely one of my favorites. It's also one of the things I like better about the new recording, how the "how dare they try" is slow and somber.

Personally, I thought the score and the chorus were the worst parts. I had no problems with any other part, and thought Groff was quite sexy. Though maybe that's because I'm 17 and he's not too much older than me.

"Also, to be fair, nobody ever comes out and says when a country goes to war that soldiers and draftees are being "chosen to die"."

Well yes, but in Claude's mind, I think he knows if he goes. he dies.

And CurtainPullDowner, that is such an amazing and scary story. I think you hit it right there with "we were young...". I think that's the true story of HAIR, the story of youth. And I think the 60s let the younger generation have a voice and a hope and a desire to change the wor

Well Lincoln didn't actually free the slaves because he didn't want to lose the support of the few key border states that still had slaves. This is why politicians generally suck, because they can;t actually stand for anything, because they might piss the wrong person off. You can;t say Lincoln wouldn't have seen all the slaves being freed because he died before such a conversation could start.

And I think Claude is against the war. But I think he's also for his country, and isn't comfo

Ahh yes, Where Do I Go? is so completely fantastic, and one of the most relatable moments in the show for me. that's where I am right now, trying to choose a college and a life. In that song I get a sense of wanting a lot of almost contradictory things, childhood and adulthood, nature and cities, just trying to find a foot to stand on, some way to balance all these things into one whole person and one whole life. It's not just a question for Claude Hooper Bukowski, an eighteen year old in 1968 (

Possibly a cliche answer, but it's got to be the very end, The Flesh Failures/Let the Sunshine In. And this is for a few reasons. One, seeing Claude with short hair, in a uniform, after that whole time, is such a weird, misplaced image. And then just singing Let the Sunshine In, it's just exhilarating and scary and fantastic. And then when they switch to A Capella it's heartbreaking. I don't think I'll ever forget the image of Gavin lying on that flag with the spotlight and snow.

"First of all, I think dissent (and protests done correctly) are extremely patriotic. Don't forget, our founding fathers WERE seen as radicals. The Boston Tea Party was the ULTIMATE rebellion at the time. "

I totally agree. Dissent is extremely patriotic, because it shows that you're willing to put yourself on the line in order to change the country for the better. Without dissent, who knows if I would be able to vote, or get a divorce, or a job. But your Revolution reference is kind of
